Huh, and Arians doesn't really use FB's... Anyone else getting the feeling that Sherman is as good as gone? Amaya has seemingly been more productive on ST's...

Amaya is, but Sherman is a FB, who probably makes a bigger impact on ST's under Arians.

But why does this signing automatically mean Sherman is getting the axe?

Maybe he is. Arians said point blank he prefers two tight ends... And his past record can back that up, so maybe Sherman is gone. But I just don't see how this signing signifies that.

Sherman is playing on a fifth round rookie contract, even if he does not a have a prominent role in our offense...cutting him is not a top priority IMO

I can all but guarantee that signing a free agent to be a Special Teams player has zero impact on how we approach the draft.

It was pretty obvious before this what they are going to do in draft: OL, OLB, S, TE, maybe QB

I don't know about "automatic", but you only have so many roster spots. If Sherman's main position is not a priority in Arian's offense, it makes it harder to justify keeping him. With this signing, whether for ST or both S & ST, the fact that he does play S, a position that absolutely will be utilized under Arians, it seems more likely that Sherman could be released. Now ideally, I'd want them both to bolster ST's, but it's possible there just isn't enough room to carry both. That's all I was getting at.
