http://www.csnwashington.com/football-washington-redskins/talk/andrews-says-rg3-rehab-about-career-not-first-game-13

Dr Andrews says: "RG3's recovery "way ahead of schedule"

He also said that his recovery is about his long term career and not just getting him back for week 1, despite what media is worried about and a commercial might say.

Since it's combine time, and I always love talking about RG3. Just a couple things I figured I'd point out regarding RG3's speed that some of you guys might not have been aware of.

Last year after the combine RG3 mentioned that there was an error with his 40 time, and that it was actually faster than what he was given credit for at the combine. It looks like his time was officially changed to a 4.33. This site uses official NFL times, and had RG3 at a 4.41 following the combine, but have since changed it.
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profilexnews.php?pyid=82836&draftyear=2012&genpos=QB

This article shows that the NFL's official times don't come until after the combine:
"Holliday ran a 4.21 in 2010, when Jacoby Ford (Clemson, Oakland Raiders) posted a 4.22, the two fastest times since 2000, according to NFLDraftScout.com records. Chris Johnson (East Carolina, Tennessee Titans) is widely credited with the event record at 4.24 seconds. So-called official times aren't released to teams until a week or 10 days after the event."
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/blog/rob-rang/21761175/nfl-combine-auburn-rb-mccalebb-runs-unofficial-421

What is crazy is how fast RG3's top end speed during his 40 was. He was timed at 24.6 MPH. His 10 yard split was a 1.50 which is good, but his split from 10-40 yards was 2.83 seconds, which is absolutely amazing.

For example, the fastest guy at the combine this year was Marquise Goodwin, and he ran 2.84 second 10-40 yard split.

Another example is Chris Johnson who ran an amazing 1.40 10 yard split, but his 10-40 yard split was 2.84 seconds, which is .01 slower than RG3.

If you take RG3/Chris Johnson's 20-40 yard splits the gap is even bigger:
RG3 20-40 yard split was 1.78 seconds
Chris Johnson 20-40 yard split was 1.83 seconds

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=32966&draftyear=2008&genpos=RB

Basically there is a reason RG3 was a national record setter in high school in track/just missed the Olympics at age 18. Now lets just hope he comes back full speed, so we can see what he is capable of throughout his career. He is truly one of those rare genetic freaks that only come around every so often.

Jim Irsay lets it be known that if he had the 2nd pick in the draft he would have still released Manning and went with Rg3. He also said he'd make sure he out Rg3 in less of a running offense because he wouldn't want to expose him to injury the way Washington did.

Quote:
If the Colts had...ended up with the second pick in the draft, would they have drafted Robert Griffin III and let Manning go? Irsay said yes. He would have drafted RGIII, he said, but put him in a less run-happy offense.

"I wouldn't have exposed him to injury in the same way they have in Washington," Irsay said. "My philosophy on quarterbacks is, first and foremost, you've got to keep them healthy and on the field."

It's hard to disagree with Irsay, but you wish he'd keep his nose out of Washington's business. The comment was clearly a shot at the offense we ran last year.

As others pointed out, Luck got hit significantly more than Griffin. Griffin just had bad luck in getting hit in a nasty fashion.

Shanahan says #RG3 remains ahead of schedule in his recovery. @TarikCSN has more: pub.vitrue.com/l0KV #RedskinsTalk

“@Rich_Campbell: Mike Shanahan (refreshingly) admits he has "no idea" if RG3 will be ready for Week 1: http://wtim.es/WEMyD4 #Redskins”

@SuperSkin1: Shanahan says @RGIII is working out twice a day at #redskins Park for a total of "6 to 7 hours" daily. #Determination

ATL
Mike Shanahan: Redskins' RG3 can't keep taking hits

http://m.nfl.com/news/0ap1000000152237/

Well if Rg3 is on board with playing safer and Shanahan is on board it should happen. Hopefully... Wink

Quote:
"You can't take shots consistently," Shanahan told Mark Maske of The Washington Post on Wednesday at the NFL Annual Meeting in Phoenix. Shanahan said it falls on Griffin to adapt his playing style to stay out of harm's way, learning to slide and throw the ball away when appropriate.

"If hard work has anything to do with it, he'll be ready," Shanahan said.

"We don't have to run (the option), but they have to prepare for it," Shanahan said, suggesting that little will change next season in D.C.

We will have to see how the knee injury affects Griffin's mobility next year. He just wants to let everyone know they aren't pushing or rushing Rg3 back, he will play when he's healthy and comfortable playing.

http://larrybrownsports.com/football/rg3-circus-elephant-prince-jacket/180597

Rg3 is dressing up in a prince jacket for the Barnum and Bailey Circus to throw rings on to a three ton elephants tusk.

Quote:
Robert Griffin III went to the circus with his family Sunday, and it looks like he had a blast. That’s him in the picture above wearing a “Prince jacket,” making it purple rain. Below are photos of him playing catch with an elephant and posing next to a little person. Hopefully he didn’t bring Cosmo Kramer with him.

Mike Shanahan says that Rg3 will set a record for recovery, but still gives no timetable on his return.

http://nesn.com/2013/04/mike-shanahan-says-rg3-will-set-record-for-recovery-still-no-timeline-for-return/

Quote:
Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan seems to be sipping the same positive Kool-Aid, because in a recent interview with NFL Network, Shanahan said Griffin has already made significant progress.

“He’s over at the facility, rehabbing all of the time. He’ll set a record for coming back because that’s how hard he works,” Shanahan said.

“When most people take a look and they take a look at Robert, they’re thinking, ‘Oh, you can’t run the option,’” Shanahan said. “People don’t realize that the option protects the quarterback. The thing I have to get with Robert is when to slide, when not to take a hit. These quarterbacks are so competitive but they don’t realize sometimes how valuable they are to your franchise.”
well I have to disagree with him that the option protects the qb. The option opens up RG3 to take more hits in the edges.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell is reporting that on top of ending the 2012 NFL season with the league’s best-selling jersey, in the time span of one fiscal year – from April 1, 2012 to March 1, 2013 – Griffin’s no. 10 jersey has outsold every other jersey in the history of the league in the same amount of time.

http://m.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2013/04/15/sonny-jurgensen-to-rgiii-quit-running/

Sonny Jergenson to Rg3- Quit Running!

Quote:
“Quit running,” Jurgensen responded. “As a quarterback, you make your living throwing the football. If you make your living running the football, you're gonna play 10 games a year. Quit running. Run when necessary; get out of bounds.

“I mean, we're seeing that from a lot of the offenses, a change of offenses,” he continued. “You saw it in Seattle, you saw it with San Francisco. You know, it's a read-option offense, it's a college offense that pro coaches haven't figured out how to stop yet. They will make adjustments, they'll learn how to stop it, and then it's gonna be very dangerous to do that, because you can spend more time on the bench than you do on the field.

“And that's one of the things you have to be concerned about,” Jurgensen said. “And I think that's one of the things the Redskins are concerned about, that's one of the things that Robert Griffin is concerned about. They all are. You know, you want to stay on the field and be healthy, and he can do that, but they're gonna have to….I mean, everything we've read, that I've read, about the adjustments they're gonna make and how they're gonna handle it, it's gonna be less running.”
