If he's underwhelmed by their offer, we stand no chance. _________________ #FireDeanPees...and Chris Hewitt....and Matt Weiss |

That's kind of what I was thinking. I find it hard to envision Ozzie throwing a bunch of money at a free agent. The most expensive free agent I remember the Ravens signing was Foxworth and I think that was only a 4-year, $28 million deal. I'd expect Dumervil to get a bit more than $7 million on average. |

Wonder if it increases the chance that he would accept a 1 year deal? Most teams that have the money to at a pass rusher already did. _________________

I disagree. The Broncos had $3m less to work with in cap space than if he would've accepted their extension. There were also reports that their offers were significantly less than the 3 yrs/30m he expected. I'd be willing to imagine that with the FA signings they've made, they probably only offered Doom about 3 yrs/$18m. I don't think we'd want to compete with that on a yearly average basis, but I think where we CAN compete is by giving him a 1 yr/$5.5m deal... with all guaranteed. Pay him the veteran minimum salary and the rest be his signing bonus.
Also I'm sure there are still some 'hurt feelings' between the two sides, so it could also be a case where Doom just all around feels disrespected. So now he'd be much more likely to take comparable money from another team as opposed to taking less with the Broncos... similar to what happened with Welker. _________________

If our offer was lower then Denver's but has more money guaranteed I could see Dumervil excepting it. _________________

Yep, or if ours was a 1-2 year deal where he could walk after 1 year if he feels his value was boosted enough to get a big deal elsewhere, I could see that being enticing. _________________

Nice! Wasn't sure how it would play out but this is a nice pickup. Would like to see the terms, but if the FO thinks he's worth it then I'm on board. |

Damn that's a lot of money. We ever pay that much for a free agent before? _________________
