Hey boys. Looks like the Raiders might have some interest in Jenkins. Can I trouble you for some info on him? We have a bottom 3 CB corp and we need all the help we can get. Thanks in advance.

Won't tackle. Issues with health. Not consistent.

How is he in coverage? Does he excel more at man or zone?

You will find different opinions on Jenkins in here. I will say that Jenkins can be an above average CB in the league if he can stay healthy and focused. He is good in coverage most of the time, but he does tend to have some relapse's time to time. He is much better suited for man IMO as he can stick with his man the majority of the time. He can play Zone but, he tends to take some bad angles here which is why I always prefered him in man coverage.

Jenkins biggest issue is his health. I would say that he is pretty fragile and gets banged up quite a bit which may lead him to miss some games. I think this is why he tends to shy away from alot of contact. But, he is not affraid to hit if he has too as he has shown and surprised alot of us occasionally.

Hope that helps you out some.

I always thought he might be good in a zone heavy defense. He isnt your physical, man to man type corner, but doesnt play bad in man either. He is a risk taker who would rather gamble and jump routes than play with discipline (which of course leads to getting burned at times). Back in 2009 he played amazing toward the end of the season. He ended up making the pro bowl due to injuries if i remember correctly. The last couple games of that season he did a great job. Most notably on Desean Jackson, back when desean was playing out of his mind. Thats the best thing i can say about him. He doesnt like to tackle. Is often injured. Having said that I have been surprised by how little attention he has gotten this off-season. He should be a good bargain at this point.

He's a starting quality CB. He has a tendency to get injured, which is frustrating, and lacks the ability to quality tackle - but he is very good in coverage.

He's like the rex grossman of CBs. There's the good Mike Jenkins and there's the bad Mike Jenkins. But when he's good, he can be really good. And, when he's bad, he can be really bad.

He's much tougher than 99.9% of people here will give him credit for.
He is very good in man coverage but not very instinctual in zone coverage where he tends to take bad angles.
He is a top 20 talent at CB as a man cover corner. Problem is he has re-occurring shoulder / stinger issues that hamper him.

I like him for the right price. He was just always injured and yes good mike jenkins/bad mike jenkins comes to mind. I wouldn't give him 8 million a year 4-6 million sounds about right.

He is a match up type. Not a #1 or #2 or #whatever. Just limit his responsibilities order him follow and man up against the other teams small fast WR. Anything more than that and he will fail.

This is probably the most accurate in my opinion.

So to keep it simple...why do u think Dallas didnt (couldnt) trade him last year?

Because he is always nicked up and cant play zone and wants a lot of money to be an average football player

Peace

Cosigned. He has a lot of issues, but he'd probably be Oakland's best corner by a mile and he's definitely worth a cheap one year deal.
