On another forum, I'm doing a mock draft that has people controlling all the teams. We're coming towards the end of the 3rd round, and I'll be making the 3rd round compensatory pick for the Titans pretty soon, but here's the draft so far:

Trades(Involving Titans) -

Titans Get:
83rd Overall Pick(Vikings 3rd round pick)
148th Overall Pick(Vikings 5th round pick)

Vikings Get:
70th Overall Pick(Titans 3rd Round Pick)
200th Overall Pick(Titans 7th round pick)

Draft -

With the 10th selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select..

Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah

Thought to be by a lot of scouts the #1 prospect in the draft, Lotulelei's stock took a bit of a hit due to a possible heart condition, but with his level of impact on the defensive line, the Titans can't pass up taking him 10th overall. Taking on double teams on practically every play in college, Lotulelei still managed to be extremely disruptive in run defense and even managed to get to the QB, notching 5 sacks this past season. He plays a lot like Kevin Williams of the Vikings, and adding a presence like that along side Jurrell Casey, a great run stuffer, and two solid defensive ends in Morgan and Wimbley, should give the Titans a defensive line reminiscent of their early 2000s teams.

-----

With the 40th overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select..

Larry Warford, OG, Kentucky

With Steve Hutchinson's health concerns, and the overall ineptitude at the right guard position, offensive guard is undoubtedly a need for the Tennessee Titans. Larry Warford fills that need. Big and strong at 6'3 and 330 pounds, Warford is a guard that even the elite defensive linemen in the SEC had trouble getting through. Extremely versatile, having the athleticism to play in any scheme as well as hold his own against any speed rusher, Warford will fit well in the Titans offensive line, especially with people like JJ Watt lining up across from him 2 times a year.

If not for playing at Kentucky, Warford would be a much more well known name, and potentially even a first round pick. The Titans can't complain at all grabbing him in the second.

----

With the 83rd overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans select...

D.J. Swearinger, Safety, South Carolina

D.J. Swearinger is everything Tennessee is missing at the safety position. Strong. Intimidating. Big hitter. While we signed George Wilson, it's obvious that's only a stop gap, given Wilson is already on the downhill side of his career. Swearinger is a little on the short side for the position, but his toughness and ability to hit will allow Michael Griffin to stay outside of the box, as Griffin hits about as hard as a teddy bear, and will allow Griffin to play the free safety/outfielder role where he can become a ball hawk again, similar to the Chris Hope/Griffin lineup the Titans used effectively for a few years.

Sitting behind a solid, experienced veteran such as Wilson will only make Swearinger better, and as he learns to read opposing offenses better, he has the talent to become one of the better strong safeties in the league. Tennessee feels they got a steal with being able to take him this far down.

----

With the 97th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select..

Tyrann Mathieu, CB, LSU

Adding even more physicality to the secondary, going with Tyrann Mathieu with the last pick in the 3rd round makes a lot of sense for the Titans. After losing Cortland Finnegan to free agency, the Titans defense took a huge hit. Cortland Finnegan gave the Titans so much from the slot position. He was an elite CB in run support and shut down pretty much every receiver he came across in 2011. The Titans defense didn't have anyone who could make up for that lack of production from the slot position..and that's where Mathieu comes in.

He's the got the quickness to play run support and is physical enough to shut down most receivers in the slot. McCourty and Verner on the outside did a solid job last year, but we never could find anyone to shut down the inside. I'm not concerned with his size, as Finnegan showed with the right amount of physicality it can be overcome..which is Mathieu's exact mold. My only concern with him is his character issues, but the reports are he's matured. Either way, this much talent, and the reward that can come with him far outweighs the risk, especially when it's the last pick in the 3rd round. Mathieu can come in and make an impact from day 1 for the Titans defense.

----

A.J. Klein, ILB, Iowa State

As much as the Titans love Colin McCarthy, his health concerns almost require the Titans to address the lack of depth at the ILB position. Klein gives us a guy who can step in and play with the same intensity as McCarthy, along with not being too much of a drop off in skill. With development, he could definitely become a solid starting MLB for the Titans, especially with two emerging stars in Akeem Ayers and Zach Brown, the Titans outside linebackers.

----

With the 144th selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select..

Josh Boyce, WR, TCU

With Nate Washington being shopped, and now wanting to be released, the Titans will need someone to help fill his void. Damian Williams and Lavelle Hawkins have proven to be no better than depth players, thus, the selection of Boyce. At roughly 6', 200 pounds, he's identical in size to Washington, and possesses similar athleticism with having run a 4.38 in the 40 yard dash and showing a lot of the same open field ability during his tenure at TCU. The Titans shouldn't miss too much of a beat with Boyce stepping in Washington's place.

----

With the 157th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select..

Luke Marquardt, OT, Azusa Pacific

At 6'8, 315 pounds, Luke Marquardt is a beast of a man, and even at this size, is still a pretty athletic player. With his only issue being technique, learning under Mike Munchak and Bruce Matthews would be a godsend for him. With the Titans lacking depth at OT and needing an eventual replacement 3-4 years down the road for either/both Roos and Stewart, Marquardt makes a lot of sense for the Titans, and should eventually become a very good player under the tutelage of 2 HOF offensive linemen.

----

With the 169th overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans select..

Devin Taylor, DE, South Carolina

The Titans are looking to add some size and strength to the defensive end position behind Morgan and Wimbley, and Devin Taylor fits that mold. At 6'7 and 270 pounds, Taylor is an intimidating player just based off size alone. Then when you consider he ranks second in South Carolina history in tackles for loss with 35.5 and 6th in sacks with 18.5, you realize his play can be intimidating as well. His pass rushing technique could use some work, but his athleticism and motor are top notch, and with the right coaching, Taylor will solidify his position in the Titans defensive end rotation.

----

I'll update as it keeps going, but thoughts so far?

The newest pick has been added, and it is..

With the 97th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select..

Tyrann Mathieu, CB, LSU

This draft is basically my definition of perfection. All players I would love to see on the Titans.

The only thing I'm starting to wonder is if Sheldon > Star for our needs. We already have Casey as NT and Sheldon is perfect as a gap penetrator at UT. It just seems like Sheldon might be in a better position to make impact plays for us and that is what you are looking for in a first round pick. In the end though we couldn't go wrong with either.

The Klein pick is a little off now because of us signing Fokou for depth, as I drafted him prior to us signing him.

The first 3 picks were done before FA even started, the rest have been during.

Thanks for the compliment though.

Had to remove the Quessenberry selection, as he was picked earlier, the guy who edited the first post in the thread spelled his name wrong, which is why I thought he was available after searching for him on the list. The next best option, though, is...

---

Next pick is...
