I wouldn't be surprised if they drafted a returner late in the draft to compete with Washington.

Wouldn't they just have Demps compete with him?

I dont think he makes the team. He has to be superman in order for BB to be ok with his track schedule, which could force him to miss a lot of mandatory off-season work.

BB's opinion aside, I would rather have a guy committed to football like Washington or another draft pick than someone who's first love is running and football comes second.

I guess what I was trying to hint at, was with the little amount of picks we have, I highly doubt we use one of a return man. I think that competition is going to be between Demps and Washington. Washington was brought here to be a veteran leader and a return man, don't expect him to have much of a role with our offense. So it would shock me if we used up one of our few picks on a return specialist.

Trot him out as an honorary captain in a Jets game.

I was suggesting a late round pick, like 6th or 7th. That isnt entirely unfeasible to think of picking a return man that late.

Especially given Belichick's track record of drafting special teams guys late (though he has gravitated more towards coverage guys than return men in the past).

Great signing, Vereen is more than ready to take over for Woodhead. This guy catches passes like a receiver and is a very good runningback. So Washington coming in, as a legendary return specialists will be a huge boost.
