Tom Brady has not won a Superbowl since marrying a blonde. I say we petition Ponder for a divorce. |
Flacco's wife is blonde. _________________

Perhaps some Kleenex for you, as well. _________________

MN seems to be setting this up to be Ponder's make or break year, as they should.
If he can't consistently get he ball downfield with Jennings and (hopefully) a 1st/2nd round WR, cya. _________________

Man you always have to come in throwing jabs dont you? No need for kleenex, just saying Im not worried about Ponder this year and you just love to carry this argument on. You're the one complaining about our QB situation so maybe you're the one that needs to invest in some Kleenex
....or like I said, let this year do the talking and you can quit your bashing and complaining. Simple as that. _________________

Johnny Mercer might have some faith in Ponder at this point.
It's debatable whether or not Ponder has accentuated the positive.
But it looks like he's eliminating the negative....
QB Christian Ponder - Selected Season Stats 2011&12
Stat or ratio --- '11 --- '12 --- % chg
Games Start --- 10 --- 16
Pass Attmpts -- 291 -- 483
Completions -- 158 -- 300
TDs ------------ 13 --- 18
INTs ----------- 13 --- 12
Sacked -------- 30 --- 32
Att/GS --------- 29 --- 30
Sacks/GS ------- 3 ---- 2 ------- -33%
INT/GS ------- 1.3 --- .75 ----- -42%
Sacks/Att ---- 10.3% -- 6.6% --- -36%
INT/Att ------- 4.5% --- 2.5% ---- -44%
TD/Att -------- 4.5% --- 3.7% ---- -17%
Completion% --- 54.3% -- 62.1% ----- +14%
QB Rating ------- 70.1 ---- 81.2 ------- +16%

throwing a lot of short passes will do that to a guy's stats, i imagine.
i think an analysis like that would have to somehow look at passes attempted and put them in groups of from 1-10 yards, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, etc....
if he's made those kinds of gains in all yardage situations, we'd have something to see as growth. if it's more in the 1-10 yard range and that's skewing the overall grading, then not so much.
but i don't know if that's the case. _________________

That, in my opinion, is much more important in the maturation of a QB than an increase in 250+ yard passing games. Throwing one less interception despite having almost 200 more attempts is an encouraging sign. Yes, he was helped some by throwing short passes to Percy Harvin. However, he threw fewer INT's per game with Harvin on the sideline than he did with him in the game; despite having a decently close average attempts/game.
This year he needs to eliminate the high/low streakiness and really iron out his footwork. He's shown he can be an effective QB, with a better than advertised arm, when he steps into his throws.
Critical year for Christian, and, from the sound of what he's doing this offseason, he knows it. _________________
