Without looking at the poll, I'd make sure these guys are added eventually:

Datone Jones
Kevin Mitner
Desmond Trufant
Jesse Williams
Sylvester Williams
Jonathan Hankins
Matt Barkley
Jamar Taylor
Manti Teo
Sam Montgomery
Eddie Lacy
Jordan Poyer

Zach Ertz
Alex Okafor
Barrett Jones
Brian Schwenke
Travis Frederick

Do you feel that the guys in bold are 1st round candidates, MH? Or areyou recommending adding them to the list for the purpose of identifying what the Cowboys' draft board may look like? I ask because I don't think you (personally) would consider guys like Barkley, Lacy, Poyer, Barrett Jones, Schwenke, or Frederick to be 1st round picks. You're usually about as strict on placing 1st round grades on prospects as I am.

I agree with Plan in most regards - this class (and most) usually only have 15-20 players with a first round grade. Often those without a grade in the first get selected in the first based on need (QB's for example). After that 15th or 16th player, the value drops and from 17-60 there's very little difference. That's why I would be a huge advocate of trading down and acquiring another 2nd or 3rd round pick.

And this is the kind of draft where those additional 2nd and 3rd round picks become gold. It's so weak at the skill positions and so strong at the "supporting role" positions that teams can create incredible dominant lines virtually in one draft if they focus their resources (and are seated in the right draft spot) in that area. In my opinion, this is why I'd be aggressively working to trade Spencer. Not just because I think he's a poor fit, but because of how quickly the team could improve overall if we used those new picks appropriately.

The problem I would see with trading Spencer is it creates a hole that we really don't have someone to fill. So if you get a 2nd round pick, you're using that pick to replace him and gain nothing but cap space. Or you could maybe deal him for a 3rd and 5th, but you're replacing him and only adding a 5th round pick - so is the value of the 5th round pick going to offset the drop in skill from Spencer to a 3rd round pick?

It's a tough scenario if you don't have a depth guy ready to step up and I don't think we have that

I don't have a first round grade on any of the bold, but TO7 looked like he was running low on names and didn't seem like he wanted to slow down, so I threw out some names that would probably be guys worth considering. I think Schwenke is a 3rd rounder but I know many like him in the Top 50. I think Barrett Jones is a 3rd rounder as well, but many have him top 50. There's probably a lot of guys I left out as well - it was more me putting out names to help TO than anything else.

If no new votes are forthcoming in the next hour or so, I am moving on.
