The title of this thread really should be changed.

There are a lot of veteran pass rush specialists on the market right now who remain unsigned. In fact, that might be the area most flooded with talent right now. I would be perfectly happy with any of the Abraham, Freeney, Osi, DOOM group, personally. Though Osi is probably the one I want least.

came in here thinking the signing was made, only to be let down. MODERATORS, Billy Spikes, one of you needs to change the title to avoid misleading others.

It's a report, as stated in the title.

There is also a report saying to Patriots and Abraham are re-starting talks about him joining.

doesn't really matter at this juncture, the length of the thread in combination with the statements made in the title make this whole story very misleading right now. Oh well, i guess people will get over their frustration after noticing there isn't already a thread in the NFL News forum, skimming through the last couple of nonsensical pages here, there and everywhere, and then searching google news for any john abraham updates like I did. Whatever. you could just be a little more cooperative by loosening your stranglehold grip on the news flow around this website to allow for some reasonable and more accurate reporting, but hey, this is all you buddy, you got this.

Quote:
Abraham and Freeney: The Patriots recently hosted defensive linemen John Abraham and Dwight Freeney for free-agent visits, though both left without a contract offer from the team. Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston reports that the reason for this is because New England views both players as part-time rushers, which has led to difficulties figuring out a proper value.

Follow-up on Abraham & Freeney. The Patriots had both John Abraham and Dwight Freeney in for free-agent visits on Friday, and in speaking with coaches and GM types here, their read on both players is that they fit best as part-time pass-rushers. So what is the value for a player in that role in the present marketplace? Abraham and Freeney, as well as the teams interested in them, are still trying to figure out the answer to that question.

I mean there is currently no contract. Would it be possible to change the title to "Patriots talking to Abraham"?

Should edit the title Billy. It's clear the "report" is not accurate given what we know now. Hopefully it's true about them restarting talks, although I would prefer Freeney. Having both would be even better tho!
