No disagreement there, but to say he "doesn't offer much" is going too far to me. |
Im saying his cap space is worth more then his value to this team |

| by the way I think Josh Thomas is already a starter he did well last season. Dockery also played decent this year however I would be more confident in him as our third. Hopefully norman steps up. |

My point was that this signing leads me to believe we won't be going after a CB in the 1st or 2nd rounds, but I could be wrong. And if we don't, I think thats a mistake. We need a high caliber CB this year.
Kinda wish we could trade down in every round of the draft and acquire a boatload more picks. _________________

what makes you think the 44th pick of the draft is going to be a 'high caliber' corner? and you do realize we held six opponents under 200 pass yards, right? corner simply is not as pressing of a need as OL or DT. we don't need a splash player at the position that badly. _________________

Bingo, signing a DT or OL is far more important than CB. We played without Gamble for 12 games last year & didn't miss him because we had a pass rush & we got to the QB consistent. I wonder what the hold up on the Panthers resigning D.Edwards. _________________

Fine move to acquire a veteran presence for an inexperienced secondary. Cheap too, so I can't argue with it.
I think we'll probably acquire at least one more veteran DB when the initial free agent rush slows down. _________________

Not to mention, we will have a slew of post draft cuts after teams see what they can acquire in the draft.
There will be opportunities. _________________

There will be opportunities. | I'm still pretty meh about it, but my biggest concern is solidifying the interior line. That will do a ton to help out the secondary. Get one good DT (not even game-breaking or great, just good) and things will improve (especially the run D). Couple that with a solid, athletic safety and the defense will be fine, I think. None of our CBs will scare anybody at this point (though we can still hope the young guys develop), but they should be able to consistently do their job enough to make things difficult for opposing teams. _________________

One of the most frustrating things about the DT class is year was the price that some of the mid-tier guys signed for like Terrance Knighton (2 years/4.5M) and Sammie Hill (3 years/11M). I would have taken either one of those guys in a heartbeat and both would have been a better upgrade than Florence. Hill was a solid DT that did not get much playing time due to the depth the Lions have. Knighton produced on a D line that did not have many outstanding players around him. _________________
