Quote:
Some good coin for DE Robert Ayers from the Saints: three years, $10.5 million, over half guaranteed.

The reporter was wrong, story not true.

Surprising! Don't know how i feel about this one, did he play 3-4 DE before? 10 million is a lot as well, would have preferred Jean-Francois.

Unfortunately I am coming to the conclusion that the Saints don't know what they are doing on defense. I could be wrong...but moves like this just have me scratching my head. He is a 4-3 player...period. He isn't a strong enough pass rusher to play OLB...and it is very questionable whether or not he is big enough to play DE. Again...way too much money for what will likely be a marginal player. With that type of money I would think that the Saints expect him to be a starter.

At the very least...this answers some questions.
RDE- Ayers
NT- Hicks/Bunkley
LDE- Jordan

I would have preferred Jordan on the right side...but what do you do? What's done is done. The Saints still better be able to sign Bushrod and at least make a run at Ed Reed.

Didn't Ayers play OLB a few seasons ago when the Broncos were in a 34?
