Regarding the new free agent rules...
So we can talk to players now, but we can't come to any agreements before Tuesday? _________________

"They want me to play, but they have left it up to me like they have pretty much every year," Barber said. "I've got time, so I'm going to take my time." Barber, 38 next month, says he has no timetable for a decision. He'll likely be back |

I think we're going to be linked to every single big name on the market, just by the media so I';m not really going to buy into the next 2 days or get my hopes up.
If we're truely not going to pay bennett, I see us pursuing the following guys:
-CB Mike Jenkins
-CB Derek Cox
-CB Sean Smith (I hope not, but he's been linked to Tampa for the past 4 weeks. With the need at CB , i expect some interest)
- CB Chris Gamble
- DE John Abraham (Already showing interest)
-DE Osi Umenyoria
- DE Cliff Avril
- WR Danny Amendola
- WR Wes Welker
- TE Dustin Keller
I honestly do not see us pursuing Martellus Bennett. The more I read on him, he had some issues staying in shape. He showed up to Giants mini camp and otas at 280 lbs. Some question if he would be a schiano guy. I think this is all media buzz Martellus Bennett to Tampa as a perfect fit. |

He showed up at that weight but it wasn't fat. Too much bulk that's all. Dude is a big human being.

| Quote: | “Sometimes they tell me I’m going way, way too hard. I’m an intense person even though everybody is used to me being super-goofy.”
Bennett is working hard to make such corrections, both in his routes and his footwork. Sometimes, he works too hard for defensive players’ liking, as Mathias Kiwanuka’s getting in his face recently showed.
“It’s hard when you’re drive blocking and guys go down to the ground,” Bennett said. “Everybody gets mad at you but I’m just trying to do my job. You get in my grill, I get in your grill.”
And sometimes in his own grill.
“Every part of my game needs to get better,” Bennett said. “I’m just trying to become a perfectionist in everything I do.” |

I like Bennett and I would love to resign him but its looking mkre and mote likley that we will not. I really hope he doesn't end up a Falcon.
I personally believe he will be a Seahawk or Lion |

| Quote: | Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole reports that the Patriots, Bucs, and Cardinals appear to be the "leading candidates" to land Sean Smith in free agency.
Cole concedes "things are fluid," and interestingly doesn't include the Eagles among Smith's leading landing spots. Arizona needs a bookend for Patrick Peterson, and new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles is a former Dolphins assistant. The Patriots are considering moving on from fellow free agent Aqib Talib. The Bucs have the most cap space of the trio and Smith's stated desire is to "get paid." |

If Smith's #1 desire is to "get paid", I don't want him.
And the Pats are looking to distance themselves from Talib? What happened? I thought he was the greatest CB in the world there? _________________

True. But the way that's worded makes it sound like he doesn't care at all who he plays for, he just wants $$$. Not a fan of that. _________________
