| Quote: | Wisconsin running back Montee Ball said a sinus infection contributed to his pedestrian 40 time at the NFL Scouting Combine last month, when his 4.66 was 19th out of 33 tailbacks who worked out Feb. 24 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Ball improved his time dramatically at Wednesday's workout, posting times ranging from 4.46 to 4.51 on handheld stopwatches of scouts for 25 teams |
Ball helped himself a lot with answering some questions about his long speed. He's currently in my top 5 RBs.
1. Eddie Lacy
2. Geovanni Bernard
3. Le'Veon Bell
4. Joseph Randle
5. Montee Ball
Ball to the Packers with their 2nd round pick. Book it. |

Official times are always going to be worse then a hand time. _________________

Yes but not .2-.25 worse. The big difference in times shows me this "sinus infection" he had that slowed him down at the combine is probably true. |

What Montee ran in the forty did not really matter at all to me; You can see on tape he is quick off the mark, hits the LOS hard and explodes throught he hole and for the first 8-10 yard.
Past that point Montee lacks long speed, he is not going to run away from people in the NFL, he is not going to be a big play back, but he is going to be capable of being a good back based on his initial burst, ability to fall forwards after contact, ability to find the hole and create positive plays.
Montee running a 4.65 or a 4.45 did not really matter to me, long speed not there on tape, initial burst there on tape. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

If Ball is there in the 4th I'm taking him and cutting Beanie. Kid is a workhorse and smart. Manuel is rising up boards I can see us going Warmack at #7 and Wilson/Manuel at #38. Another interior OL in the 3rd and I'm jumping for joy.
Or trade back from #7 and get an extra 3rd or something. SD will want Fisher or Johnson, they could be a realistic trade partner. _________________

Trading back would be nice
Extra picks would be lovely
Selling the farm to get extra picks is what it is all about
Dont worry about the future, live in the moment ! |

Dan Pompei of National Football Post reports that an orthopedist who checked the linebacker said (Jarvis) Jones may have only had "either had a very mild incident of spinal cord concussion or merely a stinger that has long since resolved."

Jarvis Jones 100% cleared. BA said he wants to add a dynamic pass-rusher so JJ could be the guy at #7. He's a monster. _________________

| If JJ is cleared medically I dont think he lasts till 7, however if he does, has to be considered at least 1A or 1B in the options list. |

That would give us some sick depth at LB. Jones can play inside at times... Problem is we ignore the OL again since we're likely taking a QB in the 2nd. But, tonight on the news La Cava said there's a good chance we roll with Hoyer & Stanton without drafting a QB. _________________

Montee Ball is going to be an excellent pro RB...for how long, who knows. But I would love to add him to our roster. there are obviously some more pressing needs we have to adress first...actually, 4th round is the earliest we should consider adding a back. But if he is there in round four, I say w run to the podium. _________________

The only thing that gave La Cava any credibility is the fact that Jurecki was on there too.
I still think it's possible we roll with Kolb, Hoyer, Lindley/Stanton (some combo of 3 out of those names) and Kolb may be gone if the talks that have now reported as being initiated do not go well. _________________

re: Jones. Remember all the reports that came out a couple of years ago saying there was nothing wrong with the knee of DeQuan Bowere?
Take everything you hear with a grain of salt. Medical information from the combine is not going to be released to the general public. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Now that Beanie is gone, do we go Lacy at 38 if he is there?
I would think that could be a option for us.
He is not a pass catcher, well not a featured one at Bama, fits Arians desires at RB etc. |
