This would solidify the right side of our line. We would finally have a running game (if Fox can stay healthy). Which why not, Stafford was similar.... injured first two years... |

It's interesting that Clingan's average is 41.8 yards in his senior season and Harris' average last year was 41.5 which ranked second worst in the league. Ben Graham ranked last with 41.3 yards per punt. So from those numbers in the article he isn't much of an upgrade. It'll be interesting to see if he makes the team out of camp and how he performs.

Good, LoJack wants to be here and will probably have a cheap contract.
I saw Scrabble is being let go from Philly, any interest? I think he's earning $4 million from guaranteed money, would he command/get a lower contract with his recent play/age?

I think he should get a lower contract due to his age and steep decline in Philly (whether it was a wrong fit or what).
Yet I could see some team bringing him on for more than we could pay. I think he would be a decent fit here for a couple of years. Houston/Scrabble wouldn't be a bad combo and it would allow some of our younger guys to hopefully develop into solid starters to take over.

I'm interested. Could be a better option than Houston, depends on his physical health- and the Lions would have to determine if he's fallen off a cliff due to age, the Eagles misusing him, or if it was just a fluke season for that defense in general.
The elephant in the room everyone is ignoring concerning Houston, is that he isn't the same player since multiple dislocations to his shoulder in 2011. The Lions have had to move away from their man-press philosophy due to Houston and the rest of their CBs not being physically able to execute that scheme.
Our DLs production has suffered because of it, and we've also had less TOs from the secondary.

Truth. That's why I like Jonte Green (stature). Not sure on Greenwood yet, he looks pretty thin.

Bentley is weak, and that was one of the first things Schwartz mentioned after we drafted him.

I'm pretty sure the coaches were telling our punters to go for hangtime and direction moreso than distance as a way to counter our awful special teams coverage. Just give the guys a chance to sprint downfield and hope the opposition fair catches. It worked, too; over the last dozen weeks our return averages against were really low, some of the best in the NFL.

The staff always said early on that they'd draft the best talents and adjust scheme to fit. It turns out they might not be so good at that.
