I understand that Fisher and Joeckel are potential future superstar Offensive tackles, but using the #5 pick on the offensive side of the ball when we have so many holes on defense to fill seems foolish. Why not use the 5th pick on milliner and resign both Delmas and Houston to sure up our secondary then draft The top DE available in the second round then adress the Oline with the 3rd pick and so on or go DE in the first and CB in the second? I'm not in the mood to watch yet another year of the lions offense having to bail out our terrible D by trying to put up 30+ points every game then watching the defense cave in when ever they have to make a critical stop. _________________

While we have missed on some picks, I still believe in the BPA strategy. Simply saying your going to draft need by need, round to round, is never a good strategy.
Thats not even arguing the fact that Oline is a heavy need, in fact, maybe even more so than CB. _________________

O-Line is just a big need for us right now. Sims and Reiff are really the only two players that we can count on for more than this season, and we don't even know what position Reiff will end up at.
Backus and Raiola are both at or very near to the end of their careers.
Gosder is a free agent and could sign elsewhere. _________________

I have no problem drafting an offensive linemen at 5 this year. It's not like there aren't holes on the offensive line. The only problem I would have is if they draft an OT at 5 and then either him or Reiff have to change positions because of Backus being on the roster. The line needs help, and I believe in protecting their investment in Stafford. It would also help the terrible run game, which would in turn help the defense. _________________

I don't like spending resourceson CBs. Why? It rarely works.....
Aqib Talib- fail for bucs
Prince Amu/Aaron Ross- let down for Giants
Mike Jenkins- fail for bucs
DRC- let down for Cards
Antoine Cason- likely one contract and done in SD
Revis- stud, but a 2 time diva hold out bordering on distraction
Aso- good on bad team, done nothing for Philly
Patrick Peterson is a great return guy and decent cover guy. Morris Claiborne was good in spots but overly aggressive.
Bring back Chris Houston, sign a vet like Jammer cheap, and either Bentley or Green as the nickel is more than sufficient. |

Not only am I not against it I hope they do draft oline.
While I have lots of criticism for Mayhew I'm not against how is assembling the defensive back field. He has drafted a number of youngsters and corners take time to develop. It's a hard position to play at a high level. Sign Houston or add a veteran in free agency. Let the youngsters develop and add some safety help. _________________

We have holes pretty much everywhere. I won't be upset if we use the pick to successfully fill any of those holes. _________________

Not against it at all.
Establishing a running game will help the defense. Plus Stafford is our most important building block, gotta keep him upright especially when we're looking to give him a big extension. _________________
