New Estimated Cap: $19.5 million
DE Trent Cole is traded to Tampa Bay for a 4th round pick
QB Nick Foles is traded to the NY Jets for a 2nd round pick and a 6th round pick
NFL Draft
Round 1 (4): Geno Smith QB West Virginia
-A lot of people here don't like him, but I think he will be a franchise quarterback. He is a great fit for Chip Kelly's offense, and I don't see us passing on him if he falls to number 4. Has the physical tools as well as the mental makeup to succeed.
Round 2 (3): Johnthan Banks CB Mississippi State
-Tall, lanky corner with great cover skills. Not exactly the best athlete, but he is by no means a slouch in that department. Still is just as fast as guys like Joe Haden and Richard Sherman. Lucky for us, his poor combine performance allows him to slip to us at #35.
Round 2 (8 via NYJ): Jaime Collins OLB Southern Miss
-Physical freak and was clearly the best player on the field at times. Gives us our pass-rushing OLB of the future. I think he can be a 10+ sack/year guy easily. His great combine pushes his stock up a put, but I don't really consider this a reach by any means. He is the 3rd best rush LB in this class behind Jordan and Mingo. Could end up being just as good.
Round 3 (5): Stedman Bailey WR West Virginia
-Small receiver who plays like he is 6'4. He is arguably better than his first round counterpart, Tavon Austin. Jeremy Maclin will likely be gone next year and we need a replacement for him. Stedman can be a true #1 receiver in this league despite his size. He already has amazing chemistry with our new QBOTF as well. Reminds me of Steve Smith of Carolina.
Our 4th and 6th (via NYJ) round picks are traded to Cincinnati for their 3rd round pick
Round 3 (20 via Cin): DJ Swearinger S South Carolina
-We pair him with Glover Quin to finally give us a safety duo to be excited about. Swearinger flies around the field and can play in the box or drop back into coverage.
Round 4 (13 via TB): Kwame Geathers NT Georgia
-Geathers is a mammoth of a human being. He has experience as a 0 tech nose tackle already and should be able to be a part of the rotation right away. Could be our future starter.
Round 5 (3): Joseph Fauria TE UCLA
-Not sure why people aren't higher on this kid. Tons of upside. Great redzone target and gives us another athletic tight end, which Chip covets. We don't hesitate to steal him in round 5.
Our 6th and 7th round picks are traded to Indianapolis for their 5th round pick
Round 5 (23 via Indy): Damion Square DT Alabama
-A bit of a tweener, Square may need to gain a few lbs, but he looks like he could be a solid 3 tech defensive end. Already played the position at Bama. Solid rotational guy.

Alex Hurst OT LSU
Christian Robinson ILB Georgia

This team is obviously not a 10 win team. Geno may struggle some this year, though I fully expect him to win the starting QB job by week 4 at the latest. There will be many bumps in the road as this team is in the very early stage of rebuilding. As you can see, there are 10 new starters.
Our offense looks like it has the potential to put up 35 points any game. It will just come to execution. Geno has plenty of playmakers around him, and we will be running the ball a lot with our thunder/lightning duo of Shady/Bryce, so he won't have too heavy of a workload on his shoulders and can be eased into the offense. Our line looks very solid as everyone will be back healthy and we should have what looks to be the best tackle duo in the league with Peters and Vollmer.
Defensively, I wouldn't expect a whole lot this year. These guys are learning a new system and there is a lot of youth all around. Our OLB pair of the future looks to be intact with Graham and Collins. We don't have a stud NT by any means, but Dixon and Geathers will be rotating at the 0 tech position this season and should provide stability up front. Cox is a natural fit at the 5 tech, and Sammie Lee Hill looks to be a very good young 3 tech. Thornton and Square are more than serviceable backups and provide us with nice depth up front. Our secondary looks nice on paper, but this is an entirely new group of guys who have never played together before. Cox (26), Banks (23), Boykin (22), Quin (26), and Swearinger (22) could very well be one of the youngest secondaries in the NFL. Overall, this is an incredibly young defense in a new scheme under a new defensive coordinator, so don't expect them to be as good as they might appear on paper. _________________

This would be good. I'd generally want to keep Foles, though.

First of all, thank funk you put the cap figures. Not many posters do. But pics for the FAs would have been much nicer.
You cut Havili? Yes, I know Chip likes TEs better than FBs, but still.
Decent FA group, I like Vollmer. Over payed for Cox IMO. Hill and Quinn are ok.
Don't think the Foles trade is realistic. I think Cole stays.
Do not like Geno at #4. Banks is cool. Collins and Fauria are cool. _________________

I think the Jets will panic a few weeks before the draft and trade for Foles. Obviously a 2nd and a 6th is nice compensation, but it is less than what AZ gave up for Kolb and Foles, IMO, is better and is younger.
It is generally discussed around here that Chip may very well cut Havili. He may want to keep 4 TEs, plus James Casey is versatile and can fill the H-back role.
Cox's price is a bit steep, but it's cheaper than DRC , Sean Smith, or Nnamdi and he's better than all of them IMO. He is still only 26 too. Only problem with him is injuries but he's worth the gamble. I was thinking about Talib there instead, but I think Cox is the best FA corner available.
Keenan Lewis at a lesser price would be ideal, but I see Pittsburgh resigning him.
Glover Quin is very underrated round these parts. Was a big part of Houston's defense last year and is only 26 years old. He can be had for a relatively cheap price.
Cole is a terrible fit for this new defense. He will be like Freeney, all out of place. He belongs on a 4-3 team as he still has a few years left of high level pass rushing. We should unload him while he's still worth something.
I figure most people aren't gonna like Geno at #4, but it very well may happen so people should start preparing themselves for it.
Also, you're welcome . I don't get why people don't do it. It's quite easy. eaglescap.com and you can also use rotoworld if you need to for contracts. I believe there is dead money if we trade Cole that I didn't include, but it's only about $3 mil _________________

Agreed.
Outside of Collins there's not a single guy I'd draft. |

You wouldn't draft Swearinger? One of the best safeties in the draft? |

I would take him in the 4th.
I mean, if Banks, Geathers or Fauria fell, I'd take them, too.
I am not in love with "hard hitters" as opposed to guys who wrap up really well. |

It's hard to respond realistically when you can't even get the Veteran min. salary for Dorenbos correct. _________________

God I'm such an idiot. How dare I not know the minimum salary requirement for our long snapper. _________________

Birdman, as always, with such constructive criticism. I'm not sure if I banged his girlfriend or what.....
I didn't think most people would like the Geno pick. But I really think that he might be our guy at #4. Seems more and more likely as we inch closer to the draft.
If we could somehow end up with those 5 guys in rounds 2-4 I'd CMJ. Banks, Collins, Bailey, Swearinger, and Geathers are some of my favorite players in the draft. I think Bailey is gonna be a stud in this league and I know you like him a lot too. I think if we draft Geno that we should scoop him up too. They have amazing chemistry. The other 4 guys could all be instant contributors. Geathers not as much as the others as he's still a bit raw, but he could be our future starting NT in a year or so. Collins I'm liking more and more the more tape I watch of him. Swearinger and Banks are two of the most underrated guys at their position in the draft. I have Banks as the #1b corner (Rhodes is 1a) and Swearinger as the best safety. _________________
