...and OIL, I don't know of a more athletic duo in a 3-4 D-line. It'd be fun to watch, that's for sure. |
Like try getting the edge with those guys running you down. Good luck buddy. |
Imagine if the unthinkable happened and Allen Bailey played to his potential as well. That would be 3 athletic freaks. A guy can dream |
I just got really excited. |

I would hope I've built up some credibility when projecting players to the NFL, but I feel I specialize in corners, defensive lineman and offensive lineman. Everyone was down on Poe last year, but I feel like I was the only one who liked him.
Ziggy gives me the same giddy feeling I had last year with Poe. Great work ethic, great measurables, desire to learn and an incredible motor. This kid is going to be something special and aside from Geno, I really don't see anyone else who is worth a top 5 pick, considering how each player projects to our roster. Of course, I like Ansah much more than Star when you look at what our team needs are (pass rush, pass rush, pass rush). |
Yeah, you sold me on Poe last year and have sold me on Ziggy this year and i'm not one who is easily swayed by others opinions, especially on smaller college prospects who I previously knew nothing about.
I don't agree with every assessment you make, but you are the guy I look to when trying to figure out DL and OL because those are very hard for me to evaluate. Oh and i've been enjoying reading through a few pages a night of the '09 thread from when we traded for Cassel http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=303680&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=165
You were the star of the thread, making all the right points about how there was no reason to make that trade as Cassel/Thigpen had demonstrated similar talent, with comparable experience and stats at that point even with all the talent in NE. and it was done simply because Cassel was Pioli's man crush/blanket...not because of his actual ability to become a franchise QB. It's mind boggling how many saw Cassel as a franchise QB/future star, yet not one person (i'm only on page 13) described what QB qualities he had to make that happen...a few people mentioned he was clutch and one KC homer blindly said he had great arm strength. One guy even said he would've gone to the Lions with the 1st pick in the draft if he was elgible. I go read that thread whenever I need cheered up
Anyways back to the present, like DT said, it almost seems like we'll get a better player for us drafting like #8 instead of #1, because the player with the highest BPA grade at that point will fit us better than all the crap that is supposedly BPA at #1.
I'm fairly confident that Dorsey realizes this and won't actually take the BPA if he doesn't fit our team, especially considering there isn't much of a gap between #1 and #10. _________________

This guy has now got to be the pick, hopefully after a trade down...ILB won't be taken in the top 10 and will be taken care of later in the draft.
He will complete our D...give us the pass rushing presence we are lacking from a DE in sub packages. He can take over for Tamba in a few years or prove he can be a starting 3-4 DE at some point.
I think this is the pick that makes us the best for this upcoming year as well as helps us the most in the future. _________________

Rage,
That thinking is exactly what has really warmed me up to Ansah. I admit I am not as high on the idea of Ansah being a "plug-and-play" 5-tech. I just think he is too raw to throw him to the wolves at that position. But he has the potential to be a much more athletic version of Antonio Smith IMO if he does reach his potential of a front 3 lineman. I think that projection is further down the road but he could make an impact much sooner as a situational pass rusher by spelling Houston and Hali as a 3-4 outside linebacker and even putting his hand in the dirt in 4-3 fronts as a defensive end. Depending on how creative Sutton wants to be, I could even see him being used as a 4-3 defensive tackle on pass rushing downs.
I have mentioned it before, but I think he has the potential to be :
1. An impact 3-4 rush outside linebacker.
2. A much more athletically gifted Justin Tuck in a 4-3.
3. A more athletically gifted Antonio Smith in a 3-4 front.
That is alot of potential which may or may not be realized in all or any of the above categories. I listed them in order of what I think could be position he could make the biggest impact sooner to the one that I think will take a little bit longer to see if he can develop into. _________________

Its either Ziggy or an OT but less likely if Shwartz signs. Milliners out. Genos probably out. Star might be in play. Richardson and Floyd don't fit.
My guess is Star or Ziggy then let Jackson walk next year. _________________

Both would be great picks if we trade down to the Eagles or Bills _________________

if you want us both with a permanent O face, then we need the Jets to trade Revis to the Bucs for their 1st + whatever, then NYJ trade both 1st rounders to us for #1 (for Geno), we get Ansah at 9 and Brown with the Bucs pick. Now THAT would kick some serious butt. _________________
