Licht was with New England through May 2012. So yes, he was there when they drafted Mallett. |
Gotcha. It says he was Pro Personnel guy so it probably doesn't mean much. _________________

I don't sseing them trading him at all. He is learning behind THE BEST and with Brady signed on....FOREVER, this allows them to groom him even further....God forbid Brady can't play. With all Brady and the Patriots have done for one another, if Brady couldn't play any longer or decided he wasn't going to play until 40, He would wave his contract. He has said piblically he doesn't need the money.
This franchise is setting themselves for a longer term of success. They tend to be 4 years out on their thinking. With the pick ups from the CFL and free agency already...they most likely are looking to free agency to fill holes with only 5 draft picks. They team has gotten incredibly younger over the last three years and they can continue that with selective picks.
BB is a genius. |

There is 0% chance Mallett is the heir apparent to Brady unless Brady suffers a career ending injury in the next 12 months. To that end, there really is no reason to "groom" him. His contract is up after 2014 so he is gone some time in the next 24 months and I'd think they'd want to move him sooner rather than later (i.e. before opening day 2013). |

Mallett/Brows Trade Still An Option
| Quote: | | One NFL source tells The Plain Dealer he expects the Browns to try to strike up a deal for Mallett even though another source believes Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will be reluctant to part with him. |
Apparently, with Alex Smith and Matt Moore off the QB Carousel, a Mallett trade appears much more possible. _________________

They used their 2nd round pick of this draft on WR Josh Gordon last season. _________________

I can see a 3rd and a 4th this year or a couple of 3rds getting it done. _________________

| Hmm Mallet to the Bucs for Benn and a draft pick would be nice. I think they also have a second round pick, unlike the Browns. Doubt we could get Benn and a second though. |

Benn has no (or very very little) trade value. He'd essentially be a throw in because chances are he's getting cut eventually anyway.
If they can get a 2nd for Mallett, they can get a 2nd + Benn |

Someone want to help me out. I don't understand the Bucs trade rumors. Did I miss something. They have a QB.
I can reach and make a ridiculous guess. Buc trade their QB for Revis!!!!!! |

I would take Tampa's 3rd and Benn for Mallett. That's fair value IMO _________________

I wouldn't move Mallett at this point for less than a 2nd. Benn has no value IMO. The #73 pick in the draft isn't enough. |
