Hi All,
I recently participated in a GM Mock Draft representing the Rams.
The rules were that we retained all our RFAs and UFAs. As such, you will have to imagine a world where Gibson/Amendola come back at a discount, Mikell accepts a pay cut etc.
Trades/Acquisitions
STL Receive: WR Greg Jennings
GB Receive: RB Steven Jackson
A simulated FA move. Jennings fits well as a high character veteran who can set an example on how to prepare to the young Rams WR corps. Jackson opts out of his deal to chase a ring.
STL Receive: OLB James Anderson
CAR Receive: OLB Rocky McIntosh and a 6th Rd Pick
Not a special player but a solid one who allowed me to focus on other needs in the draft. Slightly overpaid at $3m per year, but not crippling.
STL Receive: OG John Moffit & 7th Rd Pick
SEA Receive: LB Justin Cole
Picked up some cheap depth at guard and a pick for a reserve.
CB Richard Marshall - Free Agent (cut by Dolphins)
OLB Kaluka Maiava - Free Agent (cut by Browns)
Marshall was a good player in Arizona who also has experience at FS. Maiava has speed and is good on ST as a replacement for Cole's skills there.
Draft Picks

1st Round (#16 Overall)
Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
With Warmack, Jarvis Jones and Richardson off the board, I grabbed Johnson to lock down RT pass protection and to provide insurance against a Saffold injury.
1st Round (#22 Overall) - via WAS
Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
Creates a great rotation with Langford and was BPA. Easy decision once Jonathan Cooper was taken by Dallas.
2nd Round (#46 Overall)
Matt Elam, S, Florida
Great in the box and with more coverage ability than many credit him for. Re-united with Janoris Jenkins. Was hoping to grab one of Eifert/Ertz/Warford/Lacy here, but the top of the 2nd was not kind to my big board.
3rd Round (#78 Overall)
Travis Kelce, TE, Cincinnati
Much needed extra red-zone target and one of the better blockers in the TE class. Really debated going with Travis Fredrick here but decided a weapon > protection.
4th Round (#110 Overall)
Tony Jefferson, FS, Oklahoma
Value selection - future centre fielder who has decent tackling form (mostly). Good match with Elam's skillset.
5th Round (#142 Overall)
Zaviar Gooden, OLB, Missouri
I wanted a OLB to develop behind Anderson/Dunbar, and Gooden's speed is intriguing.
7th Round (#198 overall) - via SEA/BUF
Zac Stacy, RB, Vanderbilt
A flier on a RB with an interesting skillset.
7th Round (#206 Overall)
Denard Robinson, Returner, Michigan
Why not? If he can catch the ball, he'll help on returns at least.
Depth Chart
QB: Sam Bradford / Kellen Clemens / Austin Davis
RB: Daryl Richardson / Isaiah Pead / Zac Stacy / Terrance Ganaway
WR: Greg Jennings / Brian Quick
WR: Chris Givens / Brandon Gibson
WR: Danny Amendola / Austin Pettis
TE: Lance Kendricks / Travis Kelce / Matthew Mulligan
LT: Rodger Saffold / Joe Barksdale
LG: Shelley Smith / Brandon Washington
OC: Scott Wells / Robert Turner
RG: Harvey Dahl / Rokevious Watkins / John Moffit
RT: Lane Johnson / Barry Richardson
---
DE: Chris Long / William Hayes
DT: Kendall Langford / Sharrif Floyd
DT: Michael Brockers / Jermelle Cudjo
DE: Robert Quinn / Eugene Sims
SLB: James Anderson / Zaviar Gooden
MLB: James Laurinaitis / Josh Hull
WLB: Jo-Lonn Dunbar / Kaluka Maiava
CB: Cortland Finnegan / Bradley Fletcher
CB: Janoris Jenkins / Quinton Porter
NB: Trumaine Johnson / Richard Marshall
FS: Quintin Mikell / Tony Jefferson / Rodney McLeod
SS: Matt Elam / Darian Stewart
K: Greg Zuerlein
P: Johnny Hekker
LS: Jake McQuaide
Ret: Denard Robinson
Overall, I feel I did a decent job at getting value. The major worry is the interior OL - LG is basically an open competition between a lot of unproven players. But the defense looks very stout, and there was some good value obtained.
What do you think? _________________

To put it bluntly, you owned that mock. Great draft and excellent trades. Stacy is an amazing pick in the 7h. _________________

id prefer Keenan Allen over Greg Jennings at this point of his career
Kyle Long over Elam cause you drafted Jefferson in the 5th. |
