Redskins beat Green Bay in 2010, they won the S B,,Redskins beat Giants ( twice ) in 2011, they won the S B .. Redskins beat Ravens in OT in 2012,, so if they win the SuperBowl that'll be 3 years running we've beaten the Super Bowl winners.. |

I planned on giving a smart remark to this post until I saw you quoted Vinnie Paz in your sig. Well played sir, well played. _________________

Well they won-- so we've beaten the SperBowl Champion 3 years running.. An oddity only but I'd bet we are the ONLY team to do that. |

I'm sure teams beat the steelers, 49ers, cowboys and patriots every year they won the Super Bowl. I'm sure it's been done before.
It's interesting that its happened for us, but sad at the same time that we aren't winning the Super Bowl. It's really not a topic I love, that we keep losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion. It means nothing! _________________

Losing ?? Guess you meant beating.. Yeah--I said it's just an oddity..
I'm still willing to bet it's NEVER been done.. I mean what the odds that a team will be schedule against the eventual Champion--3 years in a row? |

The Redskins have beaten the Ravens twice in their history: 2000 and 2012. The Ravens have won 2 Super Bowls in their history: following the 2000 and 2012 seasons. Simply put, the Ravens win the Super Bowl every time they lose to the Redskins during the regular season. _________________ RIP SuperSkinFan

We can't possibly beat ourselves next year so I don't see this trend continuing _________________

Dan Steinberg of the DC Sports Bog pointed this out a year ago.
———————————————
I've updated his list to include the 2012 Ravens. So since 2000 the teams to beat the eventual Super Bowl Champs in the regular season are:
Washington 5
Dallas 4
Miami 4
Pittsburgh 4
New England 3
Tennessee 3
———————————————
So in the last 12 years we have beaten the eventual Super Bowl champ in the regular season 41.7% of the time.
If you look at our schedules we didn't play the eventual champs 4 of the 12 times in the regular season (we did beat 2 of them the only meeting in preseason....but who counts that?)
So we beat the eventual SB champ 62.5% of the time we played them in the regular season over the last 12 years and 77.8% of the time we played the mat all (preseason included)
2000 - Ravens - W
2001 - Pats - Didn't play
2002 - Bucs - Didn't play (pre season - W)
2003 - Pats - W
2004 - Pats - Didn't play
2005 - Steelers - Didn't play (pre season - W)
2006 - Colts - L
2007 - NY Giants - W (split. Won last meeting)
2008 - Steelers - L (MNF)
2009 - Saints - L (OT)
2010 - Packers - W
2011 - NY Giants W (both games)
2012 - Ravens - W
We were the last team to beat the Giants BOTH times. We were also the last team to beat the 2000 Ravens. I cannot remember if we were the last team to beat the Packers or the 03 Pats.
What does all this mean? NOTHING!!
But it's a fun stat for the offseason! _________________
