Cook played over 60 percent of his snaps as a slot receiver/wideout in 2012, and this could become contentious if the Titans try slapping Cook with the tight end franchise tag. The franchise number for receivers is roughly $10.5 million. The tight end franchise number is just under $6 million. Per beat writer Jim Wyatt, Cook and the Titans are "nowhere close" to a long-term agreement. |

That is an interesting point. I never thought of that. That could seriously throw a wrench in the team's plans. In no way is Jared Cook worth 10.5 a year. |
So who decides what position he is? The league? |
NFLPA I think. _________________

I honestly wouldn't be too upset if we can't retain Cook. He's just too inconsistent. I'd rather have Stevens get the most PT at TE , or sign Delanie Walker. _________________ NFL: Titans

With our own team I want:
Restructure: Hasselbeck, Hutchinson, Hawkins (Id be okay to release last 2)
Release: Amano, Jamie Harper, Afalava, Babineaux, Tracy Wilson, Zach Clayton, and Mike Otto
Resign: Cook, Bironas, Velasco, Lutui, and Marks <- (Only if he comes cheap) _________________

We like overpaying the bad players. (Griffin, Amano, etc.) _________________

Because a restructure typically means an extension... So if the Titans have the cap room this year, why not just eat that 5.5M on the books for this year, instead of pushing money to future years (ie, dead cap space next season, if he's cut then)? Unless he accepts a straight up cut in salary, the Titans won't restructure his contract if they have no plans for him past this year... _________________ Excuse the typos, I'm usually posting from my phone... and I Swype! |

That makes a lot of sense, but I think he said he was okay with a straight up pay cut for this year I believe. _________________

Watching the NFL combine, it makes me sad we wasted a first round pick on a WR that would be lucky to crack the third round in this year's draft.
So many talented guys, size, speed, hands...
And we took the short slow WR with the biggest body fat % in last year's combine with our first
Can't wait until Munch is gone. _________________

Star not working out due to heart condition. Could have major effect on the draft. _________________

Not interested. He has not done anything relevant since he had Kurt Warner as his QB in Arizona. He is not an upgrade over Preston, Mariani or Damien Williams. IMO _________________
