You keep throwing Patrick our there. But Patrick wasn't selected at a tremendous position of need. He was going to be nickel at best his rookie season. The Saints thought that they were getting a player with potential who could develop into a starter. Sound familiar to what the Saints would be doing for Wilson?
The bottom line is that the draft is a crap shoot. Players bust. Even BPAs bust...all the time. But drafting someone who you know will ride your bench for the next three years is unwise. |

But it's DB vs QB.
You need 4 (ABSOLUTE MINIMUM) healthy DBs to field a team, 6 would be much, much better, 7-8 would be ideal.
You only need 1 healthy QB to field a team.
Patrick was drafted, KNOWING that he would be seeing the field soon, if not immediately.
Why spend an early pick on a QB who won't see the field for quite a few years, when we have other holes all over this team? Especially in a draft as deep as this one. The top end is a bit weak, but the depth is fantastic this year. _________________
