Why not? Dripping with upside. He's got the physical talent and demeanor, he just needs a decent coach to teach him the technique and he could be one of the best OTs in the NFL. Of the top OT players I feel like he's got the highest ceiling. Right now the "prospect arc" for him is similar to that of Trent Williams, they were kind of unknown for a long time, blew up in the draft season and Williams ended up being the top OT selected. |
Trent Williams is exactly who popped into my mind. Johnson has ridiculous upside...and has been successful at OU on both the right and left side. _________________

I'm thinking Shariff Floyd/Joeckel/Warmack or Star at #4 _________________

I watched some of Shariff's games after not knowing much about him...I get it. Really like what I saw, especially his hussle on top of his explosiveness. _________________

Imagine on passing downs having floyd and cox inside with graham and cole outside. (could change depending if we pick a better pass rusher) _________________

Not a big injury, will be fine by camp. Its not something serious at all, so to hold it against him is dumbfounding. He, Floyd, and Star are probably the three guys I want most with top value. _________________

I really like Floyd and I've liked him for a long, long time but I'm just not seeing all the hype everyone keeps talking about. Double digit sacks? Top five pick? Eh… I prefer both Star Lotulelei and Sheldon Richardson. _________________

Right now I'm keying in on: Star Lotulelei, Luke Joeckel, Eric Fisher, Ezekiel Ansah, Dion Jordan, Barkevious Mingo and Lane Johnson.
Really like Ansah. I think he could be a star at a number of spots for us. He could play 5-technique, he could play SLB and predator. He's so talented but so unrefined. Out of all the top pass rushers he had the most sacks per snap and pressures per snap. The sky is the limit for him. _________________

Rotoworld:
| Quote: | Georgia OLB Jarvis Jones' spinal injury, specifically, is a narrowing of his spine between the C4 and C5 vertebrae.
Jones received clearance from "a couple spine specialists" after a stinger injury led to his stenosis diagnosis at USC. Trojans doctors wouldn't clear him to play, but he got that from Georgia and "practiced every day, never had any symptoms." Jones played in 26-of-28 games the past two seasons. Draft insider Tony Pauline reported Saturday night that Jones remains privately "resigned" to a Da'Quan Bowers-like draft-day plunge as "multiple teams" have removed him from their boards. |

So I have gone and studied up on some of these offensive lineman prospects because I keep saying we should get one. So here is what I have decided:
1. Joeckel is the safer pick, but I think Lane Johnson has more upside and fits what we're trying to do more. I think Lane has HOF potential if he puts on a little more muscle and perfects his technique.
2. I prefer Fisher third after Johnson then Joeckel. Fisher looks good, but not as good as the other two imo.
3. Warmack looks good, don't get me wrong, and I am not against taking a guard at number four in theory, but Warmack I think is getting overhyped. I also don't think he's a fit for our system anyways, he didn't play in space a lot. Also, we can move Todd to RG and have a legit right tackle. Then maybe one day, Watkins can take over for either Mathis or Todd and Lane/Joeckel/Fisher can move left. Maybe just start the young guy on the left and move Peters to the right since he's older and coming off an injury, and he's also played there before in Buffalo.
4. I think every olineman is a better prospect than every DE, LB, Geno or Milliner. However, I think Floyd might be better than everyone, and Star is probably between Joeckel and Warmack/Fisher on my board.
5. I have Cordarrelle Patterson rate highly, but I can't justify taking him when we have bigger needs. If we had a decent offensive line and playcalling, Celek/Maclin/Jackson/Avant/Cooper/Johnson/Harbor is an adequate enough group of skill guys. My board would probably look like Floyd>Johnson>Joeckel>Star>Fisher>Patterson for guys I think would fit us at spot 4, and obviously 5 guys can't be taken before our number 4 pick so Patterson wouldn't be BPA. Vacarro might even be before Patterson seeing as how bad we need a safety, but he's not number 4 worthy. Then I would probably go Dion Jordan than Milliner then Ansah. _________________
