plus, since it's going to be "the people's stadium," and be multi-purpose, will it really be Viking themed? |
It really shouldn't matter, IMO.
As long as the stadium will be successfully used by different sources, why shouldn't it be Vikings themed? Does it really matter if there's a bunch of purple and yellow while Monster Jam is there? I personally don't think so.
If the Vikings are shelling out $400 million to build it, they should be able to design/decorate it anyway they want as long as the stadium is multi-purpose. _________________ "Man, Adrian Peterson doesn't get tackled. He just decides that's enough for one carry."

The upcoming NFL season will be the last the Minnesota Vikings will play in the Metrodome, the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority announced Thursday.
The Dome will be razed after the 2013 season, likely in January or February of 2014.
The new stadium’s architect, HKS Inc., and newly-named builder, Mortenson Construction, met Wednesday and settled on the demolition timetable, said Michele Kelm-Helgen, chairwoman f the stadium authority. The Dome needs to be torn down to make way for the new stadium.
The timing means that the Vikings will play two seasons — 2014 and 2015 — at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus.

Mine are tears of joy. I've always despised that stadium. I spent a lot of time there (including the '85 All-Star Game) and I won't miss it a bit. I miss the Met Center more than I'll ever miss the Metrodome. _________________

I'm definitely leaning more towards joy, but there's something about the metrodome. It reminds me of an old mangy dog. Yeah it's ugly, but it's burrowed a place into your heart. |

It will be about 75% joy, but some sadness, I went to game 163 there for the Twins and a couple of years before when they clinched the division when the Tigers lost in KC in extra innings and 50+ percent of the crowd stayed and Torii Hunter was running around the field getting us pumped up and screaming even though they couldn't hear us there. They did reference us though on the telecast. But there were a lot of crappy games where I could barely see the game cause I'm sitting at a crazy angle and can't see the field. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

As a BMX rider I will miss being able to ride the waxed up ledges late at night, and the hand rails were always a good warm up spot too
The vikings fan in me won't miss it. I went to a terrible twins game there once, and the 49er's game this year I went to this year could have been better with out the drunken snobs sitting by me _________________ 2013 Adopt a Minnesota Viking - Xavier Rhodes - CB - #29

I'm renting a bulldozer and going to be the first one in line to knock it down.
I hate that place. I hate it. I hate it. I HATE IT. _________________ "Man, Adrian Peterson doesn't get tackled. He just decides that's enough for one carry."

The Minnesota Vikings’ new football stadium will be designed to accommodate a baseball field.
The Vikings and the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority announced an agreement Friday on a multi-use field configuration for the $975 million stadium. Under the agreement, the new stadium will feature a 26-foot-high right field wall, retractable seats on the north sideline and removable dugouts.
