Rubin was a beast before as a nose tackle and Taylor moves really well for his size. Either way I doubt we trade Rubin. Whether or not an article was posted, our coaches haven't had a single day of practice with any of the players. We will see where everyone falls in a few more months. |

It seems to me that this question can't be answered accurately until after free agency and the draft.
Taylor appears to be the obvious choice for NT. Rubin and Winn may be starting at DE with Hughes possibly backing up both positions. But even that may change.
JMJ and DQ seem likely starters at ILB, but that may change as well.
OLB, FS, and CB are all strong needs as well.
Right now, I can say with a high degree of confidence that we will get at least 5 or 6 new players in the next few months that may be potential starters (or major role players) on defense.
After that, we can have this discussion more accurately.

Wait, are you claiming JMJ is a bigger hitter than DQ? Sheard a bigger hitter than Winn? Not that big hitters are really important, at least not as important as sure tacklers, but if we are ranking them I don't think we'd agree on much. |

Can we clear up the fact that Rubin will be the NT? He has the prior experience and yes Taylor is 330lb also but has the speed to play DE where Rubin does not.

Some people question Phil Taylor's athleticism. They think Rubin is a better athlete. I like big Rubin but Phil has much better quick twitch muscles.

It seems to me, and many of us, that Rubin, Taylor, and Hughes all are better fits at NT than DE in a 3 man front. But there have been reports that say that Taylor will be the NT with Rubin and Hughes playing some DE. It seems they stem from Horton and other coaches.
Actually, I don't see any players on our roster with the length, athleticism, and size to play 3-4 DE, except for maybe Winn. But I'm sure we'll have some guys playing there.
Know what looks like a "debacle" to me? This switch on defense. We'll see what happens after free agency and the draft, but I can't see how we don't have several (more than 5) more spots to fill now than we did last year.
