That was a classy thing for the Bears organization to do; hats off to them for caring about a players future. _________________ "No one can disguise mediocrity better than Bill Belichick." |

Yes, the McCaskeys aren't douchy "all" the time. _________________

This is the time of year when football decisions aren’t made in a vacuum, and money can matter more than anything that happens between the lines.
So while it seems obvious that the Bears would want to do what it takes to keep defensive tackle Henry Melton, doing so would require them to tie up nearly a third of the salary cap on four defensive starters, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
They’d obviously prefer to get a long-term deal with Melton before they had to use the $8.3 million franchise tag, but that’s far from a given.

@AdamSchefter: Bears announced they were unable to sign LB Brian Urlacher and are moving in another direction.
Probably not that big of a surprise to anyone here but it makes me wonder about a few things..
1. How much is he possibly asking for?
2. Will Rick get more aggressive with his pursuit of Urlacher or does this scare him off because of the $ issues?
3. If he doesn't come here where do the rest of you think he will end up?
4. What's next for Da Bears? _________________ 2013 Adopt-A-Viking: LB Michael Mauti #56

The talk that 2011 first-round draft pick Gabe Carimi is in danger of getting cut will only heat up after Carimi skipped the first day of Organized Team Activities on Monday. Carimi was the only Bear who was eligible to participate who didn’t show up, according to ESPNChicago.com.

I love how highly picked NFC North tackles keep busting or not living up to expectations.

The Bears have reached a contract agreement with first-round pick Kyle Long, the club said Friday night. The No. 20 overall pick, Long (6-6, 311) is expected to compete for a starting role at guard on a new-look offensive line for Chicago.
Long has relatively little experience as offensive lineman — a mere two collegiate seasons — but the Bears are intrigued by his potential.

yikes. a 1st round picked who is expected to compete for playing time, is very inexperienced at the position, and is "intriguing."
seems like a reach to me. _________________

I don't think you should consider Long a .... long shot ..... to be effective if he was graded by pro scouts. |
