Lanning, four year punter (two year kicker) with the Gamecocks of USC has been signed. Might be the end of the road for Reggie Hodges.
Now everyone can redo their mocks that have us taking the LaTech punter with our last pick. _________________

It would certainly save a roster spot, but I'm not sure we'll ever see someone have both of those spots full-time.
Imagine the wrath that the "braintrust" would face if their "two-timing foot specialist" missed a crucial field goal or extra point, and the folks attributed it to him spending too much time on trying to drop punts inside the 20. _________________

Wasn't this guy with us in the spring and couldn't even beat out Reggie Hodges? _________________

Yes, he is. With four different clubs during 2012. Suffice to say....he gets around. _________________

Yeah, same guy. For what it's worth, though, I remember reading a few things from people who were at camp saying that Lanning was out-punting Hodges. I guess he didn't do enough to force the Browns to eat Hodges' contract. I'm sure Chris Tabor had a say in this, since he's still with the Browns. I wonder if Tabor wanted to keep Lanning last year, but was told no by Heckert. Just speculating.
But hey, it's a punter. We had none. Now we have one. _________________ Cleveland Browns: We put the fun in dysfunction.

Seriously though, this makes quite a bit of sense. _________________

| With Chud and Norv running the offense, Weeden with a year of experience and a healthy T-Rich, we won't even need to carry a punter. |

Reggie did good work for us before he blew his Achilles, so no damning him.
Paul Brown believed the punt is the single most important play in the game because of its material impact on field position, and last year Reggie's punting sucked.
So I welcome any new punter not named Scott Player. _________________ Everything happens exactly the way it is supposed to happen...otherwise, it would happen some other way |
