Gentleman,
We're putting a nix in this mega-trade. We're in pretty much agreement that this affects the spirit of the game. There is just too many moving parts, and just way too many stipulations to make this work. If this were a situation in which there weren't that many steps needed to get this to work AND we had the majority of the staff of EVERY War Room been behind this trade then we might have considered allowing this to go through. This is just way too convoluted, and quite frankly not worth spending time discussion.
Any concerns or complaints should be sent to me through PM. I apologize for any inconvenience this places on you. Thanks for your time.

On those lists, I think we should make a run at Bowe or Jennings for sure. I'd be okay with Knighton too, like AA said, but I wonder if he's the penetrator that we need.
Also, how did these players get assigned their tiers? I look at some of those names on tier 2 and Barwin doesn't really seem to fit, given the year that he had. Didn't I see somewhere where only 2 OLBs ranked lower this year? _________________

If we can change them, I would recommend ratcheting them up a notch for the first of our targets. |
How much do you think McClendon is worth? |
There seems to be slight bidding war for McLendon between us, Cleveland and Indianapolis. I don't think he's worth the 2M+ that it will take to get him. Specially when there's a good crop of DTs in the shark tank: Sammie Lee Hill, Alan Branch, Aubrayo Franklin, Ron Brace, Sedrick Ellis, Roy Miller, etc.
As to the free agents I would target Jennings, Barwin and Knighton. I think most teams that really need a WR will go after Bowe leaving less competition for Jennings. _________________

I agree, will you send me contract offers for each one, keeping us under the cap, and if we need to we can cut a few players.
Someone who wants to write up a pitch for some of these guys and send it to me as well _________________

I put in an offer on the two guys we have discussed, neither offer will break our bank or even really hurt us that bad, but still might be competitive for them _________________

To give a brief explanation of how they're doing FA, they've changed the rules so as to prevent people just backloading contracts irresponsibly. I can take care of the creative accounting to make the numbers fit the rule. The other big change is that FA have a target Average Annual Value (total worth of contract divided by number of years). If you're off by 10/20/30% (for Tier 1/2/3) of that target AAV the offer gets thrown away. So far, it does not look like they'll tell us what the target AAV is for each FA. I think it would be fair for people to not only comment or suggest what FAs we should target but also what they think the AAV should be. If you guys like this I'll post the AAV I'm thinking of for the guys mentioned in the thread. Not sure if people would be worried about putting the numbers out there or if we should keep it to PMs.
Also not that since only offers near the target AAV are kept, the value of the pitches will be higher than in years past. _________________
