Ok, Say you’re the GM of the Saints and you and your staff decided an upgrade was needed at the outside linebacker position in your new 34 defensive scheme. You wanted someone with experience, production and potential. At the end of the day your coaches and scouts finally decided between these players and it’s up to you to break the ice.
Whose your choice and why?
Option 1
Anthony Spencer OLB Cowboys
We all know about Spencer, had a breakout year under Rob Ryan and seems to be developing into one of the better 34 outside edge defenders… but how good will he be without D-Ware?
Option 2
Paul Kruger OLB Ravens
Very similar to Spencer, Kruger’s game has exceled over the past season. Kruger is younger and has more long term potential and possesses a motor that just doesn’t quit.
So what’s your choice?
Both players are likely to garner the same type of money on the open market and both should be available due to the cap restrictions on their current ball clubs.

If we sign Ryan, give me Spencer. Having a guy who knows the scheme is always more beneficial. _________________

Kruger because him and 'Tez swapping stab stories would be good for team morale.
Seriously though, Kruger _________________

I figured this would be an interesting debate... I myself too am leaning toward Kruger because of his youth but If Ryan ends up being the guy it would likely be Spencer. _________________

How old is Spencer? If he's up there in age, give me Kruger. _________________

He just turned 29 a few weeks ago. Kruger turns 27 in a few weeks. _________________

Then, really it depends on the DC. Rob Ryan, give me Spencer. Mysterious guy, give me Kruger. _________________

If the rumors are true and Ryan gets the job...
my wish list goes like this,
OLB Anthony Spencer, Cowboys
ILB Larry Grant, 49ers
CB Cary Williams, Ravens
SS Laron Landry, Jets
NT Terrence Knighton, Jaguars _________________

Would Kruger play SOLB? If so, I'd like our LB corp.
Galette - Tez - Lofton - Kruger. Would be nice, but if Ryan sees Tez as an OLB insert Hawthorne there. If he's not a fan of Hawthorne then maybe we grab an ILB early in the draft. I'm starting to think we go secondary in the first. _________________

I am as well. I think we'll sign Spencer honestly, and then our front 7 will be set for the most part. At that point the secondary desperately needs upgrading. _________________

Now that it's a done deal with Ryan, the answer is easily Spencer. _________________
