I think based on the fact that he plays a position of need, his coach is with us now and we have the best idea of what he is worth based on Kromer that Bushrod will be our target.
I don't love the idea because he might get paid like a 2 time Pro Bowler while I don't know if he is at that level.
But there are some factors that would make Bushrod to Chicago make sense.

I actually think people are looking a bit too much into this... There's no way Emery elects to overpay for Bushrod simply because he and Kromer are connected. I wouldn't pay him anything more than 4 mil a year.

No way could we afford Cook, Bushrod, Vasquez, Melton, and Urlacher. Urlacher is a waste of money at this point. If we could sub Urlacher and one of the o-lineman for a MLB then go o-line first round that's a perfect off-season.
I would honestly be surprised if Cook, Bennett, Finley or (hopefully not) Keller aren't in Chicago after the first few weeks of FA. |

I believe the Franchise deadline is today at 4 pm et, so we'll know this weekend who will and won't be available on the market.

the biggest risk with a free agent is that you are paying a guy top money and you do not know how he is going to react to the money, act when he gets to you locker room or even his injury history.
With the gravity of some of those risks that is one of the reasons I think we can expect Jermon Bushrod to be a top Bears target because we have a guy who has coached him personally for 5 years and knows what type of guy he is, how hard he works and whether he has been injured in the past.
