Free Agents

Andy Levitre // OG // Buffalo
This is Minnesota's big free agent signing. Not only will this signing make Peterson better (which is hard to imagine) but he'll give Ponder more time in the pocket.

DJ Moore // CB // Chicago
Not a big signing for Minnesota (He's Ranked as the 34th CB in Free Agency on WalkterFootball). But he'll give the team more depth at that position.

Glenn Dorsey // DT // Kansas City
Dorsey was a top 5 pick not that long ago out of LSU, & has played so-so for the Chiefs. I think it's a scheme thing with him, he'd play better in in our 4-3 defense. He also would come cheap because most consider him a bust.

Ramses Barden // WR // New York
I've been a BIG fan of Ramses since he played at Cal Poly (Which is about 20 miles north of where I've lived my entire life). But anyways I LOVED this guy coming out of college, he reminds me of a very poor man's Brandon Marshall, with no money. I always thought Barden was burried on the Giants depth chart with all those other WR's they have. The one start he had, he ended up with 9 receptions for 138 yards.

Matt Cassell // QB // Kansas City
I highly doubt any NFL team will sign Cassell as a starter. I think he'd make an alright backup.

Trades
-Minnesota trades Percy Harvin to Jacksonville for their 2nd & 4th
-Minnesota trades their 3rd, one 4th & next year's 3rd for San Diego's 2nd
-Minnesota trades their 1st round pick #23 to the New York Jets for their 2nd & 6th
-Minnesota trades Joe Webb to Philadelphia for their 6th

The Draft (From Jacksonville)
2nd Round

Kevin Minter // ILB // LSU
Ranked #34 on CBS Sports
Middle Linebacker is a pretty big need for the Vikes. Adding Minter to that defense will add more speed & atheletism, hich is especially lacking from our current linebackers.

2nd Round (From New York)

Kawann Short // DT // Purdue
Ranked #42 on CBS Sports
Kevin Williams is getting up there in age, but even if he does re-sign with the Vikes than I still think defensive tackle is still a big need for this team.

2nd Round

Da'Rick Rogers // WR // Tennessee Tech
Ranked #52 on CBS Sports
Even with Percy healthy & on the roster wide receiver was still one of Minnesota's biggest needs. So now that Percy has been traded now WR is an even bigger need. Roger is a WR that I really like, big tall, & fast guy. If he had zero character concerns I think he'd be the no doubt #1 WR to be taken. So he'd be a steal here IMO.

3rd Round

Author Brown // OLB // Kansas State
Ranked #54 on CBP Sports
Minnesota definitely needs some help at the linebacker position, most of their linebackers are great at stopping the run, but not so great in coverage. Drafting Brown will add some speed, athletism, & coverage ability to that linebackers group. Adding a linebacker like Brown is much needed especially considering how the NFL has changed over the years.

4th Round (From Jacksonville)

Ryan Swope // WR // Texas A&M
Ranked #123 on CBS Sports
Te Vikings need to add another wide receiver. I really like Swope, he gets a lot of comparisons to Wes Welker, & with no Percy in the slot than that spot would be Swope's day 1.

4th Round (From Detroit)

Alvin Bailey // OG // Arkansas
Ranked #125 on CBS Sports
Just making that offensive line even better. In my opionion Bailey an immediate upgrade over anybody who played guar for the Vikes last year.

4th Round

Leon McFaden // CB // San Diego State
Ranked #139 on CBS Sports
Even though Minnesota already signed DJ Moore in free agency drafting another cornerback is a MUST. You can never have enough CB's in this division.

5th Round

Matt Scott // QB // Arizona
Ranked #163 on CBS Sports
Joe Webb was absolutely terrible in that playoff game. Matt Cassell isn't a great option either, but they needed a vererain backup QB & he the best available option. So I think they should draft a QB around the 5th or 6th. I really like Matt Scott, he's got a good arm & he's threat on the ground too.

6th Round (from New York))

Michael Williams // TE // Alabama
Ranked #180 on CBS Sports
They released Carlson & that ridiculous contract he signed, they have to find a replacement for him. Williams is a great blocking tight end, that's pretty much all he did at Bama, because they love running that ball. But he is definitely a threat through the air as well.

6th Round (From Philadelphia)

Tyrann Mathieu // CB // LSU
Ranked #199 on CBS Sports
Most teams are scarred off by his off the field/character issues & completely take him off their draft board. Spielmam is convinced that he has turned his life around so he takes him here. Like I said before you can never have to many CB's & he'll return punts & kickoffs too.

7th Round (From Arizona)

Shamarko Thomas // S // Syracuse
Ranked #196 on CBS Sports

7th Round

Quanterus Smith // DE // Western Kentucky
Ranked #307 on CBS Sports
This guy is a very talented pass ruser who would have been taken way ealier in the draft but he toar his ACL late in the season. Some people think he would have been a 1st or 2nd rounder.

Undrafted Free Agents

Ryan Allen // P // Louisiana Tech
Ranked #257 on CBS Sports
Kluwe needs to be replaced.

Nice job. There's a lot to like here. I love the free agents you picked, and I think we'd be getting the S.O.D. if we got Honeybadger in the 6th.

Arrow Was going to stop after you cut Robert Blanton before his 2nd year in the league

Arrow Was going to stop after you had us get a 6th rounder as compensation for moving down 17 spots from 23 to 40.

Arrow Stopped after Arthur Brown in the third

Too many trades, some head scratchers in the cut/release/re-sign, and some wishful thinking in the draft.

Love the free Agent signings and cant say I have a problem with the draft. BUT...absolutely 100% do not agree with the Percy Harvin trade.

I keep seeing this around here. Not quite sure why though. Apart from a couple shanks he did fairly well and even had a career high for net average. All with a bad plant knee.

My thoughts exactly RPM. Not realistic.

You hit some good players, but your trades need some work and the position you take the picks is a bit off. Really liked the players you took (as a whole) though.

Your draft would be pretty much ideal I those players were available.

Probably more to do with his perceived "off the field distractions", which seem to distract nobody other than the Special Teams Coach and some fans.

No way Honey Badger is there in the 6th. EARLY 5th round at the latest.

I agree with this as well. I could see someone taking a chance on him as early as the 4th. All it takes is one team that wants him. 4th round is moderate to low risk with very high reward in my opinion.

Agreed, 4th round is where guys with potential issues really start to go off the board - see Everson Griffen.
