it seems as if you ask this question every other month.
you old people.
Yes, we traded back, the Lions got Best, and we got Cook and Griffen.
...tough luck for Best. Hopefully he makes the best career choice for himself. |
Technically, the Vikings received:
Pick 34 - Chris Cook
Pick 100 - Everson Griffen
Pick 217 - Mickey Shuler
Lions received:
Pick 30 - Jahvid Best
Pick 128 - Jason Fox |

3 players = 43% of the 2013 salary cap (projected 120M) |

I would restructure Stafford and trade Suh (i dont know the cap impact of this precisely) but it would have to clear some cap room. Fairley looked quite good for Detroit and they do have Corey Williams and Sammie Hill as cheaper alternatives to Suh. There cap situation is a mess, and this is precisely why the rookie wage scale was a must.
Id look to the Lions free agents, guys like Louis Delmas, Sammie Hill or DeAndre Levy could be helpful upgrades and players that the Lions wont be able to make a strong offer for. |

Trading Suh would have nothing but a net benefit on the Lions cap situation. He has no signing bonus. _________________

Via multiple twitter sources it appears the Lions have cut ties with Titus Young.
Had to see that one coming. _________________

Considering the Lions Cap situation, would it be a good idea to trade Ndamukong Suh? Thoughts?
No. If they traded Suh, he would actually count more on their 2013 cap than if he played for them this year because of accelerated pro-rotation. You might be willing to do eat that hit for a year in order to clear it from future years, but I might wait another year or so at the least to lessen the dead money it would create. |

Suh has no signing bonus, and as far as I'm aware that's the only thing that accelerates against the cap if he's traded. He has guaranteed money but that's picked up by the other team. That guaranteed money only hits the cap if he's cut.
That's my understanding - I could be completely wrong. _________________

To follow up on this one, Young was grabbed off waivers by the St. Louis Rams. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

Kicker Jason Hanson, 42, has spent 21 years in the NFL — all with the Lions. Hanson hasn’t decided whether to return for season number 22.
Hanson: “I still have just been taking my time to really figure it out and make sure that I’m making the right decision and so I haven’t officially decided yet. I’ve been in contact with the Lions. I’m around and so I’m not hiding, but I told them I just really want to take my time and make sure that I’m not making a mistake by coming back and not going to regret that I left if I do so I’m just taking my time.”
Hanson has no contract for 2013, which means he’ll become a free agent on March 12. On Friday, Lions president Tom Lewand said that the two sides “haven’t come to any agreement about a contract going forward.”

And then dumped by the Rams less than 2 weeks later. I think Mr. Young has talked his way out of the NFL. |

| Quote: | The future of Lions running back Jahvid Best remains uncertain, as Best has still not been cleared to return to the field, a year and a half after the latest of his multiple concussions. But Lions receiver Nate Burleson is certain what he’d do if he were in Best’s position.
Burleson said on NFL Total Access that he urged Best to retire, saying Best has reached the point where the risks outweigh the rewards. |

If that happens, then despite not being a great CB, the Vikings will still have won the draft day trade where they traded down and drafted Chris Cook. _________________

Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy agreed to a new multi-year deal with the team, according to the Lions official website.
The Lions used the second-round tender on Levy last year when he was a restricted free agent, so he clearly was viewed as some degree of priority. Terms weren’t disclosed.

Something to keep an eye on, but this move could open the door for free agents like Sammie Hill, Louis Delmas or Justin Durant to hit the market. The Lions are tight for cash and i think either one of those three players could help the VIkings considersably. I liked Levy a lot for the Vikes Cover 2 defense. solid signing for them and im sure the players they want to keep will get taken care of the next week. _________________
