We all know that the Oline is our biggest issue, probably more so than QB.
However, what is our second biggest issue (other than the 2 above)?
Say magically the OLine and QB issues are fixed, what do you target next and why?
Is it TE or RB, is it DL or S
Personally I think ILB is the next biggest need, DW is a stud, then there is nothing, we need 3 more bodies and 2 are gone (Lenon prob and Bradley hopefully, Walker doesnt count). This is the biggest issue for me.
I think/hope/pray we take at least 2 ILB this draft to have some depth and competition and talent there going forward. Minter, Reddick, Williams all suit the bill, all will be there in the 2nd, 3rd and 5th.
Then CB, then OLB.
After that the rest are all about the same. |

I have to say RB, really close though. Beanie is awful Williams isn't the answer, its too bad LSH or Powell isn't bigger.
Next is ILB though Lenon's a joke _________________

Fair point
I think RB is an issue too, however i think new coach, new scheme and some new OL, then RB isnt as much of an issue
Really if we could consistently run for 100 - 120 yards a game as a team and defenses feard that we could, we would be alright.
We have enough talent at WR to make up for it, just dont need 8 men in coverage all the time. |

A better offensive line will lead to a better running game. Look at William Powell this season, not what anyone would call an elite back, but when he was given room to run he would pretty consistently pick up positive yards and had his fair share of 8-10 yard runs.
The Running Back position is pretty easily filed in the middle and later rounds of the draft, build an offensive line and the running back position will be far easier to fill with average starters who will put up well above average numbers.

We had the single worst run blocking OL in the NFL in 2012 and we sucked in power situations (3rd/4th and 2 or less. Includes 1st and 2nd and goal from inside the 2, includes QB's)
We ranked 32nd in the NFL with 27% of our runs going for a loss of yards.
If you look at the link provided; Teams that rank highly in the "Stuffed" and "power" categories are usually teams with good offensive lines. Those that rank highly in the "2nd Level yards" and "Open Field Yards" areas are the teams that have good running backs.
For example if you look at the Jets and Cincinnati, two teams with good OL's and below par RB's you can see them posting good numbers in the "stuffed" and "power" categories, but then ranking near the bottom of the league in "open field success" or "2nd level yards"
Minnesota will give you the opposite result. A team that put up poor numbers in the "power" and "stuffed" sets, but because of Adrian Peterson were great at the 2nd level and in the open field.
Build the offensive line and the running game gets better, especially the situational running game and the latter is what the Arians (And the Whisenhunt) offense needed to be successful. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

I look at the niners for how to run it.
Massive OL and good quality players, then they can run with anyone behind it.
I bet they rank highly in both those catergories. |

I'm hoping we can get a quality safety & ILB in the first 4 rounds. Keep Wilson for 1 more season and extend Rhodes. Maybe a small school ILB will still be there from 70-100. Say we go Fisher at #7 and SS/ILB at #38 we can move Levi inside filling a hole.
I'm not sure how important SS is in our scheme but A-Dub can't cover or tackle so that position is hurting us. _________________

Resigning Rashad solves the SS problem.
No SS worth taking anyway at 38 IMO, maybe later on.
Keep Wilson one more year, resign Rhodes, all good for that.
ILB can be had in rounds 2 - 4, there a few good ones there. |

Bolded: I personally don't agree with that. I find Rashad Johnson to be an extremely lackluster player in most every phase of the game besides hitting someone hard when they go across the middle and in today's game, more often than not, that's a 15 yard penalty. I would disappointed if we don't aim higher than Rashad Johnson. _________________

That is just sickening. Starting to warm up to your idea Khodder of Fisher in the first, Warford in the second...
What an embarrassment. _________________

Where would we rank if we didnt have all those lovely LSH negative runs khodder?
Middle of the road, above average? |

You cannot just isolate one runners carries remove them and say well that is the true indication. The fact is the yes LSH did a fair bit of dancing, but that does not take away from the fact that those runs were, largely poorly blocked.
Think of it this way. If our OL blocks the run well, LSH can dance and still make 1-2 yards instead of the 10+ he probably should have got.
For the record if you take out all of those lovely LSH negative runs our stuffed ranking gets worse. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's
