Take Jones off and I agree lol
Actually
The only 2 i'd even CONSIDER at 6 are Moore and Jordan.
I think we end up with Milliner anyways.
We always miss on our guys.
Starand Moore will be gone. |
I'm in between Jordan, Milliner, and Ansah currently. I'd be perfectly fine with any of these guys at #6, but I think our FO has a lil' magic they'd like to perform. I'm sensing a trade back. Someone's bound to illogically fall in love with one of the QB's this year. _________________

If we were still in the 4-3, it'd be Damontre Moore without question, but since we're moving to the 3-4, this is how it'd go for me:
1. Dion Jordan (if he checks out medically)
2. Barkevious Mingo (lightning off the snap, will only improve)
3. Damontre Moore (much better at 4-3 end than 3-4 backer)
4. Jarvis Jones (too many question marks, imo)
That's just edge rushers, though.
Since when did Ezekiel Ansah become an option at #6? _________________

Just talking about OLBs here as per the Title.... Obviously there are other players at other positions that would be options at 6 as well. _________________

I understand that. I just have a hard time thinking of any of the guys being mentioned as a pick at #6, much less all of them, possibly. _________________ Everything happens exactly the way it is supposed to happen...otherwise, it would happen some other way |

Considering Moore is considered a top 5 pick, and Jordan, Jones, and Mingo around top 5-10 I really don't see the issue here. All the rest are projected somewhere in the 1st round... Combine will change things, but I don't see a big stretch of the imagination. _________________

I feel like Mingo will translate very well to the NFL as an OLB. He's grown on me a lot over the past couple of weeks and I would love if we took him at 6. Demontre Moore is still my #1 but IMO it's a toss up between Mingo and Jordan after that. Honestly though, there's so much talent at DE/OLB this year it's going to be hard to tell who's the best player. Werner, Moore, Mingo, Anzah, Jordan, Okafor...my goodness. _________________

Anybody that writes about the draft and covers the senior bowl. Basically said he took names and kicked butt. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

This is how it is right now for me too. I like Moore at 6. If he is gone, I would probably look at another position....Star.....Millner _________________

Both are fairly light in my eyes.
Yes, Jordan has the injury, but that doesn't effect my long term outlook on him.
All reports are he will be back by camp. |
for OLB, I take the 6'5 240 over the 6'7 241. Mingo is 2inchs short and is the same weight. could show he is little more compact and could have more muscle. Being that he will built better to take on all the contact. Another thing about his weight is he doesnt carry his weight consistently. They said his weight at Oregon will be all over the place and played at times in the 220s. Being 6'7 220 is not going to create durability and we see it with his injury. They say jordan is hoping to show up at the combine at 250lbs. If he shows up at the combine at tht weight and looks great it will really show his work ethic.
I really want to see their measurements, specially in hand size and arm length |
Your 3-4 OLB's pass rush primarily, and then cover TE and RB out in the flat. You want the tall long armed guys like Demarcus Ware. Ware is at least 10pounds heavier than he played in college. You want those heavy tank type guys at both ILB positions, because they will be taking on guards, fb's, and rb's. Not saying Jordan should necessarily be taken at #6, but if you trade down. |

1. DaMontre Moore: The guy has played the spot before and been successful. He would seem like the safest pick.
2. Dion Jordan: Unique talent who can line up all over the field and do a multitude of things.
Those are the only 2 I'm cool with at 6, at least right now.
Others;
Werner/Montgomery: Solid players, but seem to be a pretty classic 4-3 DE's. Not sure they would transition as well as others.
Mingo: Looks great, athletic as all hell, but I haven't see the kid do anything of note. Wouldn't be shocked if he was a complete bust or a Pro Bowler. Risky pick based on performance IMO.
Jones: His play on the field warrants the pick, but the injury issue is concerning. If the docs clear him, he goes to number 3 on the list. If not, he may free fall a la Bowers.
Okafor: Would be a huge reach at 6 IMO.
Ansah: They guy is 6'6 270 already. With that size, he doesn't really fit at OLB in a base 3-4. In a year or two he'll be 280-285 and in 5 years, who knows? I'm not saying no, but he would require a very creative DC to utilize his skill set. At this point he looks much more like the prototypical 4-3 DE than he does a 3-4 OLB. Hell, at this point he may project better as a 5 tech than an OLB in an odd front due to his size. Intriguing player though, for sure. _________________
