And by allowing 3/7 passes his direction to be completed for 49 yards against the Ravens, Arrington just went 10 straight games (starting after the bye week) without allowing more than 50 yards in a single game.

These are the players who did:
Talib x4
Dennard x4
Mayo x2
Gregory x2
Cole x2
McCourty x2
Hightower

You're not going to convince the Arrington-bashers that he's anything more than terrible.

It's irrational and ignorant of the facts but some people just hate the guy and think he's a bad player. All the numbers in the world aren't going to change that.

He is terrible in at the outside corner. That is a simple truth. He plays much better as a nickle back covering the slot. Nevertheless, Arrington loses some of his value at the Nickle because he cannot be counted on to backup the starters.

If you honestly believe that the two starting corners will not miss time, then Arrington is a great sign. If you are also able to sign another backup CB, then Arrington is fine.

He isn't "terrible" at the outside spot. He's capable of playing anywhere from extremely well to mediocre to poor. To me, that's pretty much what you can expect from the average #3 CB in the NFL.

Watch the guy for the last 2 years and tell me he is consistently bad. You can't. He has some really bad moments, that I agree with 100%. But he locked down Stevie Johnson and played fairly well vs. Baltimore a week or so ago.

He can get exposed outside and isn't a good long-term fit there, but all the hyperbole around his flaws and perceived level of talent is just crazy.

Most #3 CB's asked to fill in against top WR's are going to get beat badly from time to time. You know why? Because if they weren't getting beat by top WR's they wouldn't be #3 CB's in most circumstances.

QBs light him up when he was at the outside. in the first 8 games he started at the outside (excluding st louis when he did not play much), he was thrown at 39 times, gave up 31 receptions, allowed four touchdowns, and had zero interceptions, and had only four PDs. For a long period of time, he actually had a perfect passer rating against. He was far from mediocre.
