I won't complain about the offensive staff. We're replacing Mike Miller & Russ Grimm after all... _________________

Another hire per CoachingSearch.com:
Arizona Cardinals: Sources tell me Indianapolis Colts special assistant to the head coach James Bettcher has accepted the outside linebackers job at Arizona.

I agree with this. The staff is very weak outside of Moore. |
Bruce Arains
Todd Bowles
Tom Moore
these guys basically run the show. and imo thats a good base for the team. |

True but who ever hears about position coaches when they are at a new job, can't always have a staff of ex coordinators and ex HC _________________ Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

All I heard from Cards fans, the main one being my grandpa, when we fired Vince Tobin was "Oh we're gonna be better now that we got rid of that idiot". Then we hired David McGinnis and we all realized real quick that we weren't better off. Since that day I've found the whole addition by substraction argument to be invalid. _________________

Completely agree. I was expecting a lot more when the main argument I heard against Horton was the weak staff he had planned. |

This is why these rapid changes can be rough and why continuity can be good if you've got a head coach that's learning. New head coaches have to put together a staff rapidly - so a lot of them just turn to their buddies. There was plenty of time put into due-diligence hiring BA, but very little time put into it by him hiring his staff.
He'll have plenty of time to evaluate them now though - hopefully he'll learn about them and have the cajones to refine his staff over time. |

Thanks for hiring Amos away. That dude was terrible. Good friends with Tomlin, so he wasn't about to fire the guy.
But after firing Al Everest (we still don't know why, possibly personnel issues), our ST went from good, to an abomination under Amos Jones.
Our terrible ST's are a big reason for why we finished so poorly, relative to expectations. _________________ "Jesus, I HATE Cleveland"

Great, then again, could have been personel.
ST are hard to gauge by coaches, schemes get torn to shread with one penalty or missed block. |

True. And my guess is our old ST coach was fired because he wouldn't give in on some players he wanted to be in his core ST. Tomlin sacrificed ST ability for offense and defense ability. And forced the ST to deal with a bunch of players to round out their squad who weren't capable. Everest wouldn't go along, Amos Jones would. _________________ "Jesus, I HATE Cleveland"

“@Cardschatter: That's Larry Zierlein, has coached with CLE, BUF, PIT. RT @LanceZierlein: Coach Z headed to Arizona as assistant oline coach.”
Scary old man if I've ever seen one. Also, forwarded pornography to most of the league by mistake in 2007.
Welcome aboard Larry! _________________
