He's got some good players to work with especially how much he likes to blitz. Should be pretty interesting for the CBs.
Still don't think it helps him make the playoffs though. _________________

I would love to have a coach who blitzes like a mad man!
Ala Jim Johnson(rip). Even when we had Spags we would rarely blitz, I
know we have a good front 4. But It sure would be nice to see some exotic blitzes.
Even last year with Fisher we wouldn't blitz as much.

I swear I dont understand the fascination with Rob Ryan...his defenses are pretty much mediocre every where he goes. _________________

Wonder how many TO's he wastes with 10-men and 12-men on the field - haha _________________

He's had terrible offenses wherever he's been. When the defense is on the field 38+ minutes a game, they're gonna let up some yards, and when they're put into bad situations, they're gonna let up some points.
Only time he's had an above average offense was this past year, and the defense was actually a top 10 defense for the first half of the year, and then the team as a whole kind of fell apart going down the stretch. _________________ Kickers are people too |

Interesting hire given that Fisher learned under his father, Buddy. _________________

Yeah he actually had a pretty decent year this year. Questionable schemes, but he made a very, very injured cowboys defense look good at times. And really over the last 3 or 4 games, the defense made big plays down the stretch, although they gave up a ton of yards... but then again, the Cowboys were down to their 4th and 5th ILBs in some games, both NTs out, safety out behind that. And I think Ware was hurt for the majority of the season with neck issues and a hyperextended elbow.
But I don't understand his schemes. They don't make a lot of sense. |

| This defense has young talent at key positions with Long , Quinn, Brockers , Laurinaitis, Dunbar and Jenkins.. Likely gonna target a S early as well. |

So he's basically Schottenheimer (before becoming Rams OC) on defense. I could live with that, Fisher should simplify the scheme to the players when confusion occurs. _________________

He's the kind of coordinator that outsmarts his own players more often than the opposing team. _________________ Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and Bruce Irvin will all have at least 1 pro bowl season each by the end of the decade.

Why oh why do people keep insisting Ryan is a good DC.
I assume it must be because of the Ryan name as he has yet to prove he is anything more than a merely competent DC.
Let's be honest if teams have talent on both sides of the ball then you would expect any DC to succeed.
Surely the mark of a good DC is making the most of what you have ? |

Yeah I mean I liked him in Dallas. Brought a lot of energy to the defense and the players did love him. Is play hard for a coach like that. If he can run a more simple defense then I like it for the rams. I think they have better potential on defense then we do. _________________
