I'd say "at worst" he is cut over the summer. |
I missed you and your cynicism mcmurtry. I like Armstead's size if he can put on some more muscle. My favorite thing about him though is he appears to be a good athlete at a position we desperately need and it didn't cost us one of our draft picks. |

| I really like this signing! Should still draft a DT though or get one through FA. Melton may be a pipe dream but I get a pants tent thinking about him and Vince in the middle |

I think we all get pants tents with the thought of Melton, Bryant or Atkins next to our big fella Vince _________________

I had a feeling this exact comment was coming. He seems to be talented so I will remain optimistic. :p _________________

Mike Reiss reports that Pats gave "Arm" $655,000 guaranteed. Not sure what that means really but I hope he stays healthy and makes an impact on the interior DL. _________________

In a reflection of how the Patriots view defensive lineman Armon Armstead as a part of their future, the team guaranteed him $655,000 as part of his contract.
This is unusual for a player signing a "futures" contract, which Armstead did Tuesday.
Armstead's pact is a three-year deal, with base salaries of $405,000 in 2013, $495,000 in 2014, $585,000 in 2015.
The entire $405,000 base salary in 2013 is guaranteed, while $250,000 of the base salary in 2014 is guaranteed.

I'm not a math scholar but that's about 1.5 mil total with about 40% guaranteed for a futures contract. Hope he proves what they apparently see in the 22 yr old that showed flashes of exactly what we need in interior pass rush. _________________

Gonna channel my inner mcmurtry and remind people that we did something similar with Markell Carter, and that didn't exactly pan out. _________________

Well it looks as if his old GM has some good things to say about him. Can't wait to see him in training camp _________________

Anybody know what his draft stock was coming out?
I like him. He reminds me of Jay Ratliff. _________________

Hard to say. He had an extremely promising first season at USC (when the 1st round pick stuff was floated around), then had a disappointing season which took him out of that discussion, then missed a year for medical reasons. _________________

| I am not counting on him being an immediate impact player, but he seems to fit well into the 4-3 defense and he has upside. Could be great addition. With the guaranteed money they gave him, i think the worse case is that Armstead spends the season on the IR. |

On the "straight" side, if he plays right away, it means he's going to be a stud given his experience/youth and how BB usually tends to redshirt them. _________________
