Outstanding, any help in the interior is welcome, at worst he might be a regular rotational player.

I'd say "at worst" he is cut over the summer.

Laughing I missed you and your cynicism mcmurtry. I like Armstead's size if he can put on some more muscle. My favorite thing about him though is he appears to be a good athlete at a position we desperately need and it didn't cost us one of our draft picks.

I really like this signing! Should still draft a DT though or get one through FA. Melton may be a pipe dream but I get a pants tent thinking about him and Vince in the middle

I think we all get pants tents with the thought of Melton, Bryant or Atkins next to our big fella Vince

I had a feeling this exact comment was coming. Laughing He seems to be talented so I will remain optimistic. :p

Mike Reiss reports that Pats gave "Arm" $655,000 guaranteed. Not sure what that means really but I hope he stays healthy and makes an impact on the interior DL.

In a reflection of how the Patriots view defensive lineman Armon Armstead as a part of their future, the team guaranteed him $655,000 as part of his contract.

This is unusual for a player signing a "futures" contract, which Armstead did Tuesday.
Armstead's pact is a three-year deal, with base salaries of $405,000 in 2013, $495,000 in 2014, $585,000 in 2015.

The entire $405,000 base salary in 2013 is guaranteed, while $250,000 of the base salary in 2014 is guaranteed.

I'm not a math scholar but that's about 1.5 mil total with about 40% guaranteed for a futures contract. Hope he proves what they apparently see in the 22 yr old that showed flashes of exactly what we need in interior pass rush.

Gonna channel my inner mcmurtry and remind people that we did something similar with Markell Carter, and that didn't exactly pan out.

Well it looks as if his old GM has some good things to say about him. Can't wait to see him in training camp

Comparison of his 2010 junior year and 2012 rookie CFL year. He seems a lot quicker off the snap and really in general. Really excited to see him suit up next season.

Anybody know what his draft stock was coming out?

I like him. He reminds me of Jay Ratliff.

Hard to say. He had an extremely promising first season at USC (when the 1st round pick stuff was floated around), then had a disappointing season which took him out of that discussion, then missed a year for medical reasons.

I am not counting on him being an immediate impact player, but he seems to fit well into the 4-3 defense and he has upside. Could be great addition. With the guaranteed money they gave him, i think the worse case is that Armstead spends the season on the IR.

On the "straight" side, if he plays right away, it means he's going to be a stud given his experience/youth and how BB usually tends to redshirt them.
