This. Cavanaugh's role here will be minimized. Getting the most out of Jay is going to be Trestman's project. Cavanaugh is only here for a supporting role to re-emphasize what MT is pushing. |
Yep I have no problem with this hire. _________________

Good luck with him. He was pretty terrible with the Jets. |
He has actual QB talent to work with here though. |
We were not the first team that he sucked with. |
Mark Sanchez is like New York-style pizza: you thought it was going to be decent, but in the end you were just disappointed. _________________

Per Pompeii - Bears hire Mike Clark as Strength and Conditioning Coach. Formerly with the KC Chiefs (4 years) and the Texas Aggies (14 years)
Per Jeff Dickerson - there were some rumblings that coaches and players were unhappy with the strength program last season, and especially the strength program for the OL. _________________

Seems to have a pretty good track record and was on the Seattle staff as well under Mike Holmgren…hopefully he can get to work with the Oline and guys like Shea McClellin, Chris Conte and Evan Rodriguez to get them to their full potential. |

Just read that article. Even if you're not excited by Trestman - you have to be excited about the staff he has put together. _________________

From the Sun Times:
| Quote: | Marc Trestman’s coaching staff is not complete, but he’s made more than enough hires to see one big difference between him and Lovie Smith — a much higher level of NFL experience on his coaching staff.
When Smith was hired in 2004, the knock on his 16-man staff was that it lacked experience. Only four coaches had prior experience at their hired position (and two of them for only one year: linebackers coach Bob Babich and offensive line coach Pete Hoener). In all, Lovie’s first staff had 29 years of NFL coaching experience, nine at their position.
With five or six hires to make, Trestman’s staff already has 91 years of total NFL experience and 71 at their hired position. If experience counts, Trestman already has a leg up on the previous regime. |

I think the main positions that Trestman still has to hire are going to be the most important…as much as Aaron Kromer will be the Oline coach he has too many responsibilities to do it on his own so the named Oline coach is going to have a big part to play…the WR coach is going to be responsible for getting the best out of Alshon in his 2nd year to become a consistent #2 target…the LB coach is going to have to be prepared for the turnover that will happen soon with guys like Urlacher possibly leaving this year and Briggs not being too far behind…I would expect Emery & Trestman to be doing a lot of work finding out about not only players but potential candidates to fill those roles at the senior bowl. |

Kromer is the name OL coach. The Bears hired Pay Meyers as an Asst OL coach to work with Kromer, but seeing as Trestman will be calling Plays/ and the primary source of the weeks game plan - I expect Kromer will be spending most of his time in the OL meetings.
Meyers was a long time OL/OC at Colorado ST, and recently worked as the OC and OL coach for the Alouettes with Trestman. _________________

However they are wording it Kromer isn't going to be able to spend as much time with the Oline as he did in NO because he will now have a bigger say in the offence as a whole...so whoever they bring in to be the day to day Oline only coach is going to be important...
Meyer would be a good hire but he hasn't signed yet. |
