+1 I think we're in luck in that there's more big-bodied NTs throughout the draft than I can rememeber. |

Also, i remember reading about Cary Williams as a potential FA in here.

| Quote: | | Similarly, starting cornerback Cary Williams, who the team also has worries about off the field, turned down a three-year, $15-million offer from the Ravens this season, sources said, and Baltimore might not go much higher than that to retain him. Williams has told teammates that he thinks he might be worth $8 million-$10 million a year, sources said. With Baltimore expecting top corner Lardarius Webb back from knee surgery and hopeful that recent first-round pick Jimmy Smith blossoms, going that high for Williams is highly unlikely. |
That guy isn't worth that much. _________________

Really. If he were worth that much then his current team would have locked him up by now. The face that they let him get to this point tells me that they don't even think he is worth what he may try to demand. Good luck with that. _________________

Raiders need to be calling Michael Johnson and Cliff Avril right when FA starts. Getting one of them would give Oakland so much more flexibility. They need to spend big on a pass rusher. _________________ I-O_O-I Hanley Ramirez " I SEE YOU! " |

No they don't. They need to spend smartly. If those players want fair value, then fine. If not, then on to the next one. _________________

The only two big name FA I would be interested in are J. Byrd and J. Long. I doubt either will happen.
Looking at guys like L. McKelvin that have starting experience and fill multiple roles for value as more likley canidates.
Only edge Avril has is that he was coached by our DL coach previously. Financially though doesnt make sense. |

I agree. I wanted Johnson in the draft. It was said that Al Davis was pissed that he was picked one spot ahead of us in the 3rd round that year. We had to "settle" for Shaughnessey on the next pick. It would be a coup if we could pry him away from cincy with a deal. _________________

Interested to see what happens to Sebastian Vollmer. He's in a similiar situation to what Veldheer would be in if we drafted a LT. Pats won't take him to play RT and he'll get LT money via free agency most likely. _________________

I would love Vollmer as a RT. Every mock I did that season had us taking him LOL. I thought he would be better than he is now but that's not implying he's a scrub by any means. _________________
