Good for chip to get someone with a lot of nfl experience on board.
Coached with the eagles for years, so probably partly howie's doing. _________________

Is this the guy who is super conservative, or am I getting mixed up with someone else? _________________ First jersey purchased: Jamarcus Russell.

Chip Kelly will call plays and he is far from conservative. So having an experienced voice of reason with him will be helpful. _________________

You are correct. if Shurmur had his way, no WRs would run beyond the sticks on 3rd down and they would kneel down at the end of the first half regardless of time on the clock and timeouts left. luckily for Philly he prob won't call their plays. _________________

They're fine as long as Chip calls plays. If Shurmur calls plays Philly will be picking top 5 again. _________________

With Chip calling the plays I like it. He's conservative, but Chip is very aggressive, so it should create a nice balance, also Shurmur have experience with the Organisation before so that's nice. _________________

Chip is definitely going to call plays. Shurmur's role will most likely be as a general passing game assistant and helping coach the QBs. |

Like this hire. I think the Eagles will stick with Foles this year, and Shurmur did a fairly good job with Sam Bradford in his rookie season. I think Shurmur has the ability to develop QBs, but don't like him as a play-caller. Good duo, imo. _________________ With much cheese,

Eagles fans better hope and pray that Chip Kelly calls the plays. Shurmur's offense was predictable, vanilla, and he often seemed confused concerning down, distance and time.
Good luck with him Eagles fans, by the way, he is not the "QB guru" he was advertised to be either. |

Eagles fans are actually extremely familiar with Shurmur, as he was on the staff for 8 seasons under Andy Reid. We all expect him to serve as the top offensive assistant, while Chip manages the play calling. _________________

This is a step in the right direction by Kelly; bring in an experienced NFL hand who is stylistically different and can be another voice in the room. _________________ big_palooka:

He has been good with getting young QBs ready for the NFL game. Kelly on the other hand has mostly just used superior athletes at the College level, so it didnt take nearly as much coaching & development as it was more game planning. |

It's a very interesting move in that regards. One that will either work out well or with Shurmur getting fired half-way into the first season... |
