Ireland should have been renegotiating with every free agent he wants to retain some time ago. Having waited we now have less bargaining power and any team that wants to raise the price on the Dolphins can.
Maybe he doesn't want to retain Smith's services. I'm not saying he does, but the fact is, he can't possibly have wanted to pass on every free agent we have pending, and opening talks before they hit the market only makes sense. I bet we pay more for some of these guys than we should or lose a few we want to keep. _________________ "22 players are involved in every football play. That ability seems to be making in season contract extensions less popular in the NFL. I guess they made 2 offers in season one to jake long the other hartline both were percieved as very low. I am with you and have been upset about it especially hartline I remember Ireland in training camp saying he wanted hartine long term so hy not sign him then when he wouldnt cost you. |

Hey, Tampa fan here
I'm really interested in us signing Sean Smith from you guys because the guy would be a good fit for our man heavy scheme. We play aggressive and often play single high safety with exotic blitzes. You guys think he'd be a good fit for TB? We need somebody to guard Julio Jones because we've been getting wrecked by that kid twice, annually. And at 6'3 215 he is a prime good match-up for him next year. |

I would like to believe that Smith can keep up with Jones by playing aggresive man to man. That's his specialty. Smith held his own against the likes of AJ Green, Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson. He just has problems with smaller, quiker recievers and playing zone. |

Seems like Sean Smith would be a perfect fit for the Jags new D. Since we will be following Seattle's model we need big corners. _________________
