If not for Alan Faneca, this guy would not have absolutely no pedigree as a coach. Other than Faneca, he was pretty mediocre in Pittsburgh, and he sucked in Arizona. He has no clue whatsoever in coaching pass blocking. Even Faneca was never a great pass blocker. _________________

I'd like to say when employees in the NFL are hired and fired, it's based on performance and skill, but that's not how it always works in a place called reality... _________________ Kickers are people too |

I'm not saying he's a good offensive line coach by any means but Grimm gets way, WAY more criticism from Cardinals fans then he deserves. In 6 years, we took 2 offensive lineman (And remember, Levi Brown never played a snap this season. IR) in the first 4 rounds of the NFL Draft. 2. We sign 2 guards nobody wants with a center that went undrafted and a left tackle cut from a CFL squad (Literally) and people blame Grimm for the OL performance. Still boggles my mind. _________________

And you guys let Ray Horton get away. I love you cardinals. Guess it's gonna be a 3 headed race for the division again. Cards gonna be at or near the bottom for the next few seasons IMO _________________

I get that, but not all great players make great coaches.
Kind of like some college professors Ive had. They know their stuff in and out, but they suck at actually teaching it to others. _________________

What I'm about to say is serious so please take it for what it is. Ray Horton has cornrows, correct? It could be that owners don't want the leader of the team to have that look. I'm not sure you can come out and say a thing like that to somebody. Maybe I'm way off here. Alot of people seem to think CK having tats and being a QB is odd. This could be a similar type of situation. _________________

This is actually a good point. It's similar to how Jerry Richardson didn't want Cam Newton to get dreads or tattoos. A coach and QB is pretty much the face of a franchise. While I think it's stupid for owners to think like that (if he's a great coach/player, who cares how he looks), it could play a part in the hiring process. |

Horton's agent reportedly told him to shave his hair before interviews for this very reason.
Anyways, I don't really see Arians as a terrible hire. It may be a lateral move from a philosophical standpoint, but Arians showed this season that he can lead a team that really had no business playing that well. I don't know why people are bringing up his credentials as an offensive guy when I'm sure he'll bring in a separate OC in. I think he's fine as a head coach.
Biggest issue with the hire is that you had perhaps the great head coach candidate sitting on your doorstep and you turned a blind eye to him. _________________

We just fired Ken Whisenhunt, so why hire Bruce Arians a guy who is a Ken Clone except older, less experience and in the process annoy Ray Horton to the point where he does not want to be in AZ anymore.
Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb dumb.
Seriously. Worst. Hire. Ever. |
