I'm stoked on the hiring. _________________

Main reason I like this move: something new will be done with Red Bryant. That's one of the main focuses ofthisdrfense this offseason. His lack of pass rush is a true concern. I think he should be moved back inside or strictly used in constant rotation, as well as made a jumbo package specialist. He crapped the bed as a DE this year.
What Do you guys think will be done with Bryant? Maybe this deserves it's own thread |

I don't think Bryant is being moved inside Quinn is the one who suggested that Bryant be moved to DE. _________________

We also need to remember that Quinn CHOSE to go to Florida as the DC. I can't say that Pete was livid about him leaving in the first place.
Also, Darrell Bevell just got a new contract. If Pete wanted Gus here so badly, he would have gotten a new contract as well. _________________

The article I read on the ESPN website yesterday suggested that Quinn took the Florida job a couple years ago with the intent of getting DC coaching experience. Not only did he get experience, he had success at it. That makes him a better hire than a guy like Norton. There is no substitute for learning how to call defensive plays in the heat of the moment. And on top of that he already knows some of our personnel. I really like this hire and how fast it was too. With all the talk over the last week of Bradley and Bevell getting so much attention from other teams PC and JS had to be talking about who to go after in case one, or both, of them left. _________________ “They were threatened by my intelligence and too stupid to know that’s why they hated me.”

The other thing to consider is that Pete (as a HC) will be like the Florida HC (forget his name), who is a defensive guru himself. I could see a situation where Quinn works intensively with the D-Line/calls the plays, Norton works with the LB and Pete works (along with Kris Richards/Rocky Seto) with the Secondary. _________________

I love Dan Quinn and I love this hire. He's known as a guy that gets the most out of even mediocre talent and I hated to see him leave us when he did. This is awesome news that we don't have Bradley anymore! _________________
