Singletary's the one who built that 49er defence into what it is.
Jim Harbaugh's the one who gets all the credit but Harbaugh is an offense-oriented coach who only had a few weeks with that team prior to the 2011 season, due the lockout. But it's Singletary's defence that he's been winning with.
The thing that Harbaugh did better was relate to the players. The knock on Sinlgetary was that he had his players a little too much on a knife-edge. _________________

It is being reported that the Bears are hiring Marc Trestman from the CFL to be their new HC.
1. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota
2. Played 3 seasons at the University of Minnesota.
3. Played 1 season at Minnesota State University.
4. Played 2 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
5. RB coach for the Vikings for 2 years.
6. QB coach for the Vikings for 2 years.
Lots of Minnesota ties. _________________ From the fool’s gold mouthpiece the hollow horn,

Marc Trestman is a great CFL coach and has a great offensive mind.
I can see him calling the plays. _________________

definitely an offensive guy, which is what they're looking for.
but it's only speculated at this point by Jimmy Johnson, his ex-coach at U of Miami. as the Bears have three interviews with other coaches still scheduled. _________________

The Bears might hire a head coach tomorrow and if it is Marc, I will say it would be a very interesting hire and I never heard of him so I looked him up and I must say he has a impressive resume so it might be a good hire but I will pass judgement on him until after 3 years |

Great hire by the Bears, which means bad news for the Vikings. The Bears' offense was the only thing holding them back. |

How is it a great hire for the Bears if he has not coach a game for the Bears yet?
I am going to wait until after 3 years to see if Trestman is a good hire or not |

I agree that's it the right hire, but I don't think it's the offense that is the only thing holding them back. Many of the key players on their defense are on the wrong side of 30. Heck, even one of their "rising" stars on their defense, Tim Jennings, is 29. The Bears have more fixing to do than just the offense. _________________

Well I read that of the 4 teams left. Only 1 has a top ten D, and the rest are bottom third.
Their offense was a coach and a couple offensive linemen away from being lethal. They have 1 out of 2 it appears. _________________

While their defense was on the wrong side of 30, they were still very explosive and have playmakers. They have a dominant defensive line that can be good for another few years. The only issue is middle linebacker but their offense has been messed up because they didn't address the offensive line and they had such an unstability of coaches there. Getting an offensive coach like that is kind of scary with what the Bears have. |

The Bears have terminated the contract of WR Johnny Knox this morning.

no surprise here. wasn't Knox the one who broke his back and then lost 50 pounds or so? _________________

Also brought up in the Bears forum, by keeping Johnny on the roster all year last year on IR, he is now a fully vested NFL veteran entitled to full pension and benefits, including long term medical coverage by the league. Likely the Bears had this in mind while keeping him on the roster all of 2012. |
