This is a guy I feel we really need to go after in free agency. He's arguably the best cover safety in the entire league and would give our defense a huge upgrade and is a huge need for us.

How much money do you guys think he will command in the open market and do we have a realistic shot at signing him?

EDIT: I was just checking out the Bills forum and it looks like the fans are saying the worst case scenario is that he is franchise tagged. Damn....

Probably 8 to 10 million a year. But he'd definitely top my list of UFAs. Buffalo could franchise tag him though...probably will.

Yeah, I just put that into my edit after reading the Bills forum. That really sucks.

Do we have the cap to sign someone to that kind of money? I have no idea what our cap situation looks like.

I would freaking love him on this team. Idk if we can afford to pay that much for a safety tho

The problem with these potential free agent safeties are the relative scarcity of good safeties available. Meaning its hard for me to believe Byrd, Moore, Goldson, etc will ever see the open market, unfortunately.

I hear a great safety by the name of Dahl will be a free agent though Laughing

Byrd has franchise tag written all over him.

That said of the guy who do become available, I can't help but to think that the DEEEEEEEP safety draft class might have some affect on their pricetags.
