I'm not going to lie, I hated this pick when it happened (largely due to the only game i ever really watched of him being the bowl game vs. MSU where he handed us the game). I look like the biggest idiot ever now, and i've never been happier to look like an idiot.

I liked that we selected a K.
I was a bit disappointed that we didnt get the K that went a few picks before tho. Obviously, I'm happy with the selection now.

I really liked the fact that we decided to draft a K, and not wait for UFAs.
With lower probabilities of players drafted in late rounds becoming starters, I think you should take the best chances.
I would advocate selecting a starter P in the 6th round (if they think they want to move on from Kluwe) given there one they rate nicely available.

I'm not sure I want to do that, for the simple fact that Kluwe has done really well this year as holder on the field goal unit. The Loeffler/Kluwe/Walsh team has great chemistry right now, I'm not breaking it up.

I would prefer to keep Kluwe as well.
But if the brass want to move on from Kluwe and get a new P, I would rather they select one around the 6th, instead of trying to compete for an UDFA/UFA services.

Blair Walsh expressed excitement about the Pro Bowl Monday and also revealed his intentions of bringing long snapper Cullen Loeffler to Oahu as his guest.

“He deserves it. That was a mutually founded thing,” Walsh said.

Walsh and Loeffler are still holding out hope that the Vikings long snapper will get a late invite by the NFC coaching staff to play in the game.

^^ Is that how the long snapper is normally selected? I never knew that. That's interesting.

receiving 42 out of 50 possible votes, Blair Walsh is named to the NFL's All-Pro team, capping off a rather incredible season since the knock against him in his last year of college was that he had lost his confidence and had become unreliable.

and cheers to Spielman and Priefer for making the gutsy move to draft and then promote him.

Applause Applause Applause

the only players getting more All-Pro votes than Walsh are:

50 Adrian Peterson
50 JJ Watt
49 Calvin Johnson
48 Von Miller
47 Aldon Smith
43 Peyton Manning

Not only did the Vikings lead the NFL in field goals in 2012 behind record-setting rookie Blair Walsh, they nearly tripled their touchbacks as part of a widespread renaissance for Priefer's unit.

They rose from No. 29 to No. 1 in The Dallas Morning News' annual special teams rankings, which ranks teams in 22 categories. That was the largest leap since the News began compiling the rankings in 1980.

Good stuff VD.

I think our special teams unit flew under the radar a bit this year. Looking back at it, they did a phenomenal job and were a huge part of a 10 win season for us.

Kudos to Walsh too.
