Bettis eventually gets in. If Curtis Martin got in, Jerome Bettis eventually gets in. _________________ Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and Bruce Irvin will all have at least 1 pro bowl season each by the end of the decade.

I think the committee goes old school and let's in players who have been long over due. Parcells as a SB winning HC and Art Modell to honor his passing and contributions to the game. IMO only Brown and Greene "could" be on the bubble or replaced.
Tim Brown (WR)
Cris Carter (WR)
Kevin Greene (LB)
Art Modell (owner)
Jonathan Ogden (OT)
Bill Parcells (coach)
Will Shields (G)

I don't think you can even compare the two. But we're both biased so it's not worth discussing. I can say though, the voters decided which one was better and deserved to get in. _________________

Sapp shouldn't get in until he leaves television. _________________

I know I'm the minority but I like Sapp. He makes me laugh. _________________

I think it's overdue that at least one of the WR's gets in the HoF, preferably Cris Carter. _________________

Yea, everyone on this damn site uses the length of his career as an argument as to why he is not HOF worthy. Its sickening. | He's 100% HOF worthy, anyone who states otherwise is fooling themselves, but does he deserve to go in before Cris Carter? How bout Andre Reed? Its a tough choice. One of them gets in this year, my gut says its Carter, but it really is a toss up. The backlog w/ the HOF is getting really ridiculous now tho, its time to expand the entrants. _________________

Because the voters have always been right right?
The notion that the 6th all-time leading rusher with only ONE guy having a foreseeable chance at surpassing him in the next 10 years not being in the Hall of Fame is idiotic... _________________

Probably viewed as a stat accumulator. I don't see him getting in unless there's a really weak draft class plus the Hall of Fame basically outlawing WRs for the induction process. |

I think I agree with you, but it's not an open and shut case at all.
He actually has a lot going against him beyond his career ranking. His 3.9 YPC is 43rd among 45 running backs with 8000 career yards, and he offered little as a receiver.
The biggest pro is that he had multiple elite/elite-ish seasons, which can't be argued for every "accumulator" out there. _________________

And Jon Riggins will help his case with that based on the "PowerBack" argument. _________________

They're two different players, but their numbers are almost identical (Bettis had more injuries though). Both actually have below the 4.1 average that is the standard among running backs. Curtis never had a good average during his career, but he was a good receiver. Bettis was a terrible receiver but was a better runner.
I think both are equally undeserving, you can make an argument for either over the other, but in my opinion, only the true elite should be in the HOF and neither of these players were that.
But the NFL HOF is what it is, and sometimes elects players just for historical relevance or even just being good for a long period of time. So Bettis will make it, if you think other wise, go to the baseball HOF. _________________ Kickers are people too |
