IDK. If those compensatory projections are correct we will have six picks after the 4th round. I can't see six players outside the top 150 making this team. It makes no sense not to trade up at some point. Maybe not the 1st round but I can't see us keeping all eleven. _________________

| This draft is perfect for our team, it's thin where we have little need and full where we have holes. Not to mention all the spurious players that will be devoured by the ill drafting teams, just enough fluff to help us make our bones rather easily this year. |

Somebody mentioned what I'm about to ask earlier in this thread or somewhere else but if the Ravens go with a DL with a higher pick what kind of player would you want them to go after? I really don't know what way I'm leaning at the moment. Getting a pass-rusher is always nice but I think the defense has struggled with controlling the line of scrimmage this season too. Pees will probably be back and he's used both the 3-4 and 4-3 base defense a lot.
The more I look at this draft the more I think that it's not a very good one if you're looking for a guy that can play both the 3-4 DE and 4-3 DT (or DE) like I would expect the Ravens to want if they used a higher pick on that position. There's Sheldon Richardson, Sylvester Williams, Shariff Floyd, and maybe Kawann Short (think he's more of a 4-3 DT) but other than that it's going to be slim pickings early on. There's only a couple of guys that I think could play DE in both schemes too (Margus Hunt and William Gholston).
Things change once you get to the prospects that are probably going in the mid-late rounds but at that point I'm not sure if adding one of those guys would be a big boost to the DL rotation. On the other hand both Jones and McPhee were taken in that range so who knows (Jones is going to be a RFA but he'll be back). Still, I think what most people want when they say the Ravens need a DL is a clear talent upgrade and that usually comes in the form of a higher pick. |

I was thinking the exact same thing recently in regard to possible draft targets. But I would add Jesse Williams and John Jenkins to your list too.
Another guy who is creating a buzz is Brandon Williams from Missouri Southern. He's 325 pounds and had something like 28 sacks the past three years as a DT, so he's absolutely someone to watch for at the Senior Bowl and Combine. If he shows he can play the run and pass equally well, I could see him becoming an interesting early round prospect along with the others already mentioned. |

Elite 5 techniques don't come cheap in this league, to nab one you need an elevated pick. Conditions needed for that to happen also require one to be in the draft, which I'll agree with you on the absence of one.
Arthur and Pernell underwhelmed more due to injuries and surrounding circumstances, than a lack of ability. McPhee has been hurt all year, Jones was inconsistent along with Kruger for most of the season, and Suggs was gone. Ngata also was dinged up all year, and Cody just flat out sucks. Get Suggs, Ngata, and Mcphee healthy, and we shall be rolling.
Don't get me wrong though, I pulled for Watt more than anyone in the world when he was coming out. I know what an elite 5 tech can do for a team, let alone two. But we are young there with potential, so it will not be viewed as a pertinent need. |

I wouldn't exactly say Cody sucks, I just don't think he's a great fit in Pees' scheme. Pees seems to prefer NTs that can penetrate rather than space eaters (think Wilfork vs. Hampton). Cody is most definitely a space eater and in that capacity I think he's above average. However, with how Pees wants things to go, Cody isn't a fit. _________________

I wouldn't be expecting an elite 5-technique though, just somebody that could be considered atalent upgrade over Jones and McPhee. Jones has come on strong lately but I don't trust him to keep it up. McPhee is best as a rotational/situation piece in my opinion. I think it's a need but I wouldn't list it above OLB (pass-rusher), ILB, and potentially FS, LT, and WR. If Richardson is on the board when the Ravens pick in the first round though that would make things very interesting. |

You're missing a few.
Cierre Wood - RB - Notre Dame
Ace Sanders - WR - South Carolina
Tyler Eifert - TE - Notre Dame
Stansly Maponga - DE - TCU
Nickell Robey - CB - USC
I think they all declared at the last minute (aside from Eifert) so that probably explains why you missed them.
It'll be interesting to see if the Ravens continue their trend of taking a senior with their first pick. There are quite a few of these guys I'd like to see them get. |

I'm not sure what to make of that story if it's true. The only argument I would have is that maybe his girlfriends name wasn't what he said it was but other than that it doesn't look good at all for Te'o. Just a very strange situation. But hey, maybe it puts him in Baltimore's range now. |

That is one weird story. I don't buy that he wasn't in on it, and the fact that he almost certainly was will certainly hurt his draft stock imo considering that his character and leadership were considered some of his strengths.
It will be interesting to see what the reports about his draft combine interviews will be like. _________________

| Quote: | “This is incredibly embarrassing to talk about, but over an extended period of time, I developed an emotional relationship with a woman I met online,” Te’o said in a statement released to PFT and other outlets. “We maintained what I thought to be an authentic relationship by communicating frequently online and on the phone, and I grew to care deeply about her.
“To realize that I was the victim of what was apparently someone’s sick joke and constant lies was, and is, painful and humiliating." |
If he's telling the truth then I feel really bad for the guy. It's hard to tell though and I doubt any of us will ever know what really happened. |
