On Kolb, not a lot. 2011 signing bonus has 6M left to hit the cap and he has 5.6M worth of option bonus to hit the cap 2013 onwards.
We would save about $3.30M from cutting Kolb. Would get the same effect from cutting Doucet and King. |
Which is why you don't cut him, you restructure him (Especially since Bidwill reportedly wants him here). Strip his salary, make him waive the roster bonus and roll a portion of the option bonus back another year. The bonus prorated is still small enough to where cutting him in 2014 doesn't hurt, depending on much of his salary you slice and you save a whole lot more. We could save 7-8 mill easy and he's still on the roster. |
Why will he do this? Wouldn't he be better off joining Reid in KC, or going back to Philly, maybe the jets? hell if he is cut, he may get another signing bonus. |

With his history, the only team besides us I could see him with is KC because of Reid. I doubt another team would take a flyer on him. Philly stays with Foles or drafts one for the new HC and I think Jets go hard after Smith or another vet. KC owes a lot to Cassell too right? _________________ Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

For anyone still interested in paying big money to Jake Long...
Matt Miller@nfldraftscout
Warning to #Dolphins fans; My grade on Jake Long is not kind this year. He was in the bottom 10 in terms of pass and run blocking.

Side note here.
Cutting Levi Brown would cost us $5.6 mil in cap space
He got a $7 mil bonus and a 5 year deal, so that is the prorata amount left.
if he keep him he costs $6.4 including workout bonus.
Swings and roundabouts there. |

We're on the hook for half of the workout bonus prorated as well. I'm 90% sure of this, still waiting for confirmation. _________________

I think that questions better left decided after we figure out what OL coach is coming in and the scheme being brought as well. |

Well there's 2-3 choices... I'm guessing he's a goner if it's Bevell. As someone previously stayed none of our OL have roster/workout bonus' before the draft so we can keep them around till after the draft. If they explore keeping Levi he'll have to workout for them to show his arm is okay. _________________

Heard MJ talking about it earlier. Go to the 36.00 minute mark (near the very end) on hour 3 and he talks about it briefly...

Jurecki definitely says it there but I don't where he got it from. Never heard Arians say he was running a ZBS and I don't believe did it last year. _________________
